Remove starter 2003 chev 1500 pickup 5.3 engine

ark your Chevy Avalanche on a level surface, activate the emergency brake and place blocks behind the back tires for safety. Disconnect the negative battery cable with a terminal puller. Raise the front end of the car with a jack for easier access to the starter.

  • 2 Remove the positive battery cable nut and the engine harness ground nut. Disconnect the positive battery cable and ground wire from the solenoid.
  • 3 Unscrew and remove the starter mounting bolts. Place all nuts and bolts in a safe place to prevent loss, such as a baby food jar.
  • 4 Detach the heat shield if necessary. Remove the starter from the vehicle.
  • 5 Take your malfunctioning starter to the parts store with you. Aftermarket distributors remanufacture most of the starters they sell, so you can likely obtain a partial credit toward your new starter by exchanging your old one. Be sure that you take care not to damage the starter in transit, because the better condition it is in, the more you can get for it.
  • 6 Purchase a replacement starter that has the same or higher cranking capacity (power rating) as the original starter. Also, match the bolt patterns, drive gears and electrical connections. Your owner's manual may list specifications or the auto parts technician will help you determine them. Download a free owner's manual by registering with the Chevy Owner Center (see Resources).
  • 7 Install the new starter motor by reversing the removal process. Tighten the heat shield nut to 44 inch pounds (five Nm) and the bolt to 35 inch pounds (three Nm).
  • 8 Torque the starter mounting bolts to 37 foot pounds (50 Nm). Tighten the ground wire retaining nut to 30 inch pounds (3.4 Nm) and the positive battery cable retaining nut to 80 inch pounds (nine Nm).
  • 9 Lower your Avalanche back to the ground. Reconnect the negative battery cable. Turn the key in the ignition to see if your new starter motor functions correctly.

    The number keys doesn.t work properly: `1 `1 2(f1) 3 54 54 67 67 =8 9 -0 -0 =8.. that should be: ` 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 - =

Sound's like dust is the issues here, so you will need to remove the keys that you are having trouble with or all keys to be on the safe side, once removed get a damp cloth and clean the keyboard where the keys once were and while your doing that soak the keys in some water to clean them up and dry them when done. Put keys back into place and test keys to see if problem as gone or not. Hope this helps.

How to replace the front brake pads

      Calipers With Guide Pins
    1. Step 1 Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery. Remove the wheel. Using an open wrench hold the lower guide pin. Remove the bolt that secures the caliper.
    2. Step 2 Pivot the caliper up and then suspend it from the frame using mechanic's wire. To remove the pads, slide the pads straight out.
    3. Step 3 Using a C-clamp, compress the caliper piston into the bore. Insert the new pads by removing the mechanics wire and pivoting the caliper back into it's place.
    4. Step 4 Clean the old bolt and apply thread locking compound. If the old bolt can not be used install a new bolt. Hold the guide pin using a back-up wrench when tightening the bolt. Using a torque wrench, torque the bolt to 26 foot/pounds. Install the wheels. Add oil to the master cylinder reservoir. Reconnect the negative battery cable to the battery.
      Calipers With Sleeves and Bushings
    5. Step 1 Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery. Remove the wheel. Remove the bolt that secures the caliper to the carrier.
    6. Step 2 Push the caliper up and pivot the caliper bottom out of the carrier. Remove the pads and the anti-rattle springs.
    7. Step 3 Install the new pads by putting the anti-squeal pads onto the caliper and then sliding the new pads onto the carrier. Put the caliper top back into place. Remove the mechanics wire and push the caliper up so that it pivots back into place and the bottom.
    8. Step 4 Clean the caliper mounting bolts. Install the caliper mounting bolts and using a torque wrench, torque the bolts to 18 foot/pounds. Install the wheel. Add oil to the master cylinder reservoir. Reconnect the negative battery cable to the battery.

I don't have a anti-theft lug wrench for my znx rims

Your going to have to buy four 9 point socket and a 5 pound sledge hammer, a breaker bar, a pipe, and 4 new lug nuts. If you lost the key to your anti theft lug nut you can take it to a professional  tire repair shop and they can remove the lug nut's for you and hope they have a key that will work. If not there have a tool that can take the lug nut off, with a cost. If your going to try it your self, place the 9 point socket slightly smaller on the lug nut and hammer it on. Be careful not to hurt your self or the car. Once the socket is seized on the lug nut, use the breaker bar and the pipe as an extension for leverage to take the lug nut off. Once off discard the lug nut and socket and do the other three the same way. Good luck and hope this helps.

    1999 ford explorer 2wd sport

Doing just the pads are quite easy. Where if you want the rotors turned, which is suggested in most cases, you probally don't have the tools. To do the pads, you need a hamer and a 3/8 extension. towards the cab of the explorer, you'll see the brake caliper. On each end of the caliper, you'll see these diamond shape things. Pound those out with the hammer and extension. The caliper will pop right off. fake a C vice clamp and push the caliper piston it. When that's done, you can replace pads with new ones. Make sure the pads are identical with the ones you removed, and install like the old ones were. Place caliper back on, and start the diamond clips. Those clips have some notches on each end. Those keep the clips in. Make sure those are facing away from the rotor. Then just tap them back into place. Making sure that those nothes are not under the caliper. If they are under the caliper, there's a chance of them coming out and caliper coming off while in use. Once those two clips are in, your done. A novince person can do this, espically if there is someone around to ask if problems.
