Question about Dell Dimension 5100 (D51L1) PC Desktop

1 Answer

Strip above the keyboard stopped working.

I have a Dell Studio 1535. The black strip of buttons (i.e. play, stop, volume, eject, etc.) stopped working. Normally, they light up when they are touched but right now, the eject button is stuck lit up and none of them work.

Has anyone else had this problem/does anyone know how to fix it?

Contact Dell please. You need to have Dell send a service technician to your home/business to replace the hinge cover, this is a fairly general problem, there are issues with the wireing.

Dell studio 1535 is not booting up.

Does it display anything on your laptop screen. To me it seems like your laptop screen is malfuncting.
Try connecting a second screen to your laptop, see if it displays something

I dont know how to eject cd I have a dell studio xps i cant remember how to eject CD

there should be multimedia touch buttons above the keyboard... for play skip track pause, etc... one of these should be eject, however there have been some issues with this (possibly to be fixed by a software patch)

Alternatively you should be able to eject the disk by going to "MY computer" right click on the correct drive icon for your CD/DVD drive and select Eject from the popup menu

My touch area on my studio 15 isn't working. like where the sound is and the play and etc. buttons were help!

The media control strip has a small cable connection underneath the strip, make sure it is connected properly. If no change, the strip will need to be replaced.

Digital Pad trouble

Most likely a hardware problem with the media control strip. You can try re-seating the cable connection for the strip, if no change then replace the strip.

Won't eject cd and none of the touch buttons having to do with a cd playing like the volume, etc don't work

That's a known issue with the Studio laptop. I have the same laptop (almost the same- 15.4) and I experience the same difficulties a lot. Dell has some issues with their DVD drives.

The most affective solution I've found was to restart the computer, and click Fn+eject (it's the F10 button if I'm not mistaken)

That's the least intrusive solution I know

I have a dell Vostro 1510, Ive had it for about a year and havent had any problems...until now. As you know above the keyboard there is a row of touch sensative buttons; eject button, volume contol, play...

After a long use, some keys get stuck i.e. it seems normal but the button under the key remain in contact. Your problem seems like this. Try to open the key board and check the button. It may solve your problem.
