Reinstall the printer over and over again

When I have installed the printer, everything works fine untill I shut off the computer and start it again. then the computer says that there is new hardware detected and I have to install the printer again. this happens everytime the computer is turned off and on. altough I just installed the printer. Seems by turning off the computer, it looses the data just installed to it. So when I go to take a look in the configurations of "printers and faxes" no icon of any installed printer remains.
I don't think this is supposed to be.
Anyone who can help?

    I have installed de printer with the instalation disk, installing through the internetpage of HP and downloading de driver on the computer and installing with the downloaded program, nothing helps.

    If you have your windows disk I would try  running  it and tell it to repair your windows.Are you attempting to install through windows manually or using an install disk?

    What platform are you using, if using mac, do not forget to open and install after save.

This is a common problem I got with many HP installer: Scanner, Printer, DVD drives always when using USB.
I had request to reinstall HP device every time I used scanner on XP home SP1, Update to SP2 and latest HP driver fixed the issue.
recently HP3050 was reinstalling with a new USB address after every power off. Upgrade to SP3 and changed model to HP1319 fixed.
Check your security settings: HP installer tries to install some hidden programs (rootkit?) clearly conflicting with some security protection (specially if you are using some hidden program installer as AOL or Symantec)).
1) check all your security protection: AV, Firewall, policy you set, disable what you do not need.
2) update your windows installer
be sure you have an update windows (are you on XP SP1?)
3) I recommend you uninstall all your USB printer and remove all your HP device:
Unplug ALL USB devices.
Open Device Manager.
View, Show Hidden Devices.
Uninstall all devices under USB Controllers.
Uninstall any HP or unknown device under Printers.
If you have a yellow ? with unknown devices, uninstall all of the entries there as well.
When this is done, reboot TWICE.
4) reinstall your Prt driver BEFORE connecting the printer

Hi. Printer spooler is not running on your computer or there's a need to erstart the printer spooler services. Please refer to steps below.

1. Press Window key + R to open the Run dialog Start and type services.msc and click OK.

2. Double-click the Printer Spooler service, and then change the startup type to Automatic. This sets the Spooler service to start automatically when you restart the computer. Click OK.

3. Restart the computer and try to install the printer again.

If that doesn’t work, the problem could be related to corrupted printer drivers that are installed on the computer. Try uninstalling all printer software from the computer and start from scratch. This may include PDF writer or faxing software as well. Anything listed in the Control Panel under Printers & Faxes I would do away with. If there is any software installed for other printers in Add/Remove Programs I would uninstall it all. Clean out everything possible that might be hanging the Printer Spooler service. Obtain updated software from your printer manufacturers and reinstall only the items you need.

When I install the D7260 printer using the CD-Rom supplied it works fine. Then after a few days only the top two or three lines of the first page are printed and, after a long pause, the sheet comes out....


Many issues are caused when the HP Photosmart is connected to computer using a USB cable before the HP Photosmart software is installed on the computer. IF you connected the HP Photo smart to your computer before the software installation screen prompts you to do so, you must follow these steps.

Troubleshooting common setup issues :
1) Discoonect the USB cable from the computer.
2) Uninstall the software (if you have already installed it.)
3) Restart you computer.
4) Turn off the HP Photosmartm wait one minute then turn it on.
5) Reinstall the HP Photosmart software.

If your installation is incomplete, or if you connected the USB cable to the computer before prompted by the software installation screen, you might need to uninstall and reinstall the software. Do not simply delete the Hp Photosmart application files from your computer. Make sure to remove them properly using the uninstall utility provided when you installed the software that came with the HP Photosmart.

To uninstall from a Window computer and then reinstall
1) On the Windows taskbar, click Start, Settings, Control Panel (or just Control Panel).
2) Double-click Add/Remove Programs (or click Uninstall a program).
3) Select HP Photosmart Driver Software, and then click Change/ Remove.
Follow the onscreen instructions.
4) Disconnect the HP Photosmart from your computer.
5) Restart your computer.
Note : It is important to that you disconnect the HP Photosmart before restaring your computer. Do not connect the HP Photosmart to your computer untill after you have reinstalled the software.
6) Insert the HP Photosmart CD-ROM into your computer's CD-ROM drive and then start the Setup program,
7) Follow the onscreen instructions and the instructions provided in the Setup Guide that came with the HP Photosmart.

Check to see that your Scanner drivers have been installed. Click on Start, then Printers and Faxes and see if a Scanner is listed. If not, you need to install the drivers.

Also, when you uninstall the printer drivers, you first need to disconnect the printer from the computer, and unplug the printer from the power source. Leave the printer unplugged for at least 15 minutes to clear the printer's cache memory.

Next, go to Add/Remove Programs in your Control Panel and uninstall the printer software. Then, turn off your computer.

Next, reboot your computer. Place the Deskjet cd in the drive and follow instructions for reinstalling the printer software and drivers.
CAUTION: DO NOT PLUG IN YOUR PRINTER CABLE TO YOUR COMPUTER UNTIL PROMPTED BY THE INSTALL DISK!!

Drivers for Lexmark x5470 disapear after the laptop is turned on.


Hey,

Fully uninstall the lexmark from your computer, everything, delete the printer from printers and faxes and make sure there is no trace of the printer on the computer.

Then get the files you downloaded and install the printer again.

Everything should work normally.

delete the printer in "printers and faxes" including all files associated with it then find your original install cd and reinstall it

You have to uninstall all your scan software.
After that delete all the folders created by the installation before
Clean all paths of your last installation (Regedit)
Install everything again
