I was using windows media to transfer a recorded eBook to my Viewsonic V37 pocketpc (PocketPC 2003) when it stopped with an error and now I have a scrambled SD card. Can't find any references on how to reformat it or do the equivealent of a Chkdsk to sort it out. Any suggestions from anyone?
The best way to solve your problem is to purchase a disk-reader ( the best one I have used is the ScandiskUSB reader, Its small and portable ) Use this for formatting your card. Put the card in the reader then go to My Computer, there you will find your card, assigned a drive letter by windows, ( WARNING - double click this drive letter and MAKE SURE IT IS THE CARD !! ) close the window and right click on the drive letter and choose format, quick format is fine when the operation window pops up. Now it should work fine. you can also move Pict's, music and simple files to the card this way too, just plug it in and drag and drop them onto the drive letter or folder you have created. To move other files that may need to be converted before moving, make sure your V3* is synced, now go to My Computer, double click on the Mobile Device this will open up your Pocket PC. Now navigate to the folder you want to move files to and drag and drop from your PC. BE CAREFUL IN HERE !! Do not delete or move any files if you don't know what you are doing!!! Just be careful you are now going to be in or around your PPC windows operating system, really just stay out of the windows folder all together!!!

You can use Resco's Explorer to format the disk, it's a good program. Personally I would use a card reader attached to the PC for formatting.
