Try to turn on but it wont stay on

When we press the start button it turns on for a moment. if we jiggle the start button sometimes it stays on. More offten than not it goes off after a fews seconds. every once in awhile it stays on thru the whole cycle

I have the same issue, posted earlier today. One suggestion was the timer motor, but still need more specifics on how to confirm as a new timer motor is ~$100.

dryer will not run unless you gently pull on the timer knob... if you let go it will sometimes continue to run ... but often not problem does not seem to be in start button

If that dryer has a 4 wire start switch which simply twists a quarter turn to get off then replace it.

Dryer does not stay running. Press the start button and sometimes it starts and sometimes not. Won't stay running. Seems to heat ok. Sometimes displays E9E on the display.

Dryer won't stay on

The motor centrifugal switch is not switching from the start winding to the run winding. The switch should stay in the run winding when the motor picks up speed unless power to the motor is interrupted or cut off. The switch is replaceable on most dryer models but sometimes it is an integral or built-in part of the dryer motor and failure of the switch requires the replacement of the motor. Indicate the exact model number of the dryer for more accurate troubleshooting and repair advice.

FWIW ... the Sears guy came by yesterday. The problem was apparently that the door latch was not operating to the extent that the sensors thought the door was open. He is replacing the latch next week. He adjusted the old one in the mean tiome and it appears to be working fine.

This kind of stunned me, since my wife reported an electric zap and the interior light burned out as the dryer went dead -- so I was sure it would be a fried circuit board -- but, no, a little jiggling of the latch seemed to clear it up....
