When you try to activate vista, Microsoft checks if the 25 character code from the vista cd case was submitted before by someone.
If you bought the windows so it is genuine then obviously noone has submitted the key before, so they accept it, and send back the confirmation ID. So that is where you get it from.

Since you do not have internet, you probably have to do the phone way of activation. So when windows prompts you for activation choose

"Use the automated phone system to activate"

This gets you the phone number related to your area. Select your nearest location and click next.

Click continue for UAC support.

Then you get the local phone number and a set of numbers generated by windows which you will need during the phone call.

Call the activation phone number that it gave you, it will be a machine voice on the phone asking you to repeat the numbers that windows gave you or type them into your phone via the buttons. Do one of the two.

The automated service then gives you the confirmation ID. Make sure you have paper and pen ready, write the numbers down! (should the activation be NOT successfull, do not hang up, you will be transferred to an operator).

If it worked, and the automated service gave you a confirmatino ID, then type the confirmation ID into your vista activation screen, where it asks for it.

Then you get the activation was successfull window and you are done!!:)

If you are unsure about the whole process, then just get so far to call the number, and fail at the activation, stay on the line and wait for the operator, they will help you with it, just explain the situation.

If you have any more questions, please let me know, will gladly help.

Let me know if this worked and if it helped, please rate me. :)

How to Install a Vista Ultimate Language Pack

Windows Vista Ultimate offers a number of enhancements, called"Extras," that provide additional exclusive capabilities to users.Vista Ultimate Language Packs are Extras that make use of the Multilingual UserInterface (MUI) to enable menus and text in different languages.
1.Log into Vista. Make sure to log in as theuser for which you want to apply a Language Pack. 2. Start Windows Update. Hit the Start button, and type"Windows Update" in the search field. Click on the Windows Updateapplication that is highlighted at the top of the window, under"Programs." 3. Run Windows Update. Click on"Check for Updates." The window will then indicate whether or not newupdates are available. Click on "Show Available Updates." A dialogwill appear showing a list of available updates, including Windows UltimateLanguage Packs. 4. Install aLanguage Pack. Select a language, and click "Install." Note thatLanguage Packs are large downloads of approximately 200MB, and require as muchas 1.2GB of storage space. Set aside at least 30 minutes for the installation.Accept any User Account Control (UAC) prompts that appear. 5. Apply the LanguagePack. Once the Language Pack has downloaded and installed, go to"Start," "Control Panel," and then double-click"Regional and Language Options." Select the "Keyboards andLanguages" tab, then choose the new language in the drop-down list under"Choose a display language."

My os is japanese character

You can only change the language of Vista if you have Vista Ultimate
or Enterprise.

With Ultimate, you can download the language packs for free.
Just open Windows Update, choose "view available updates",
and check the language pack you want.

Afterwards, from Control Panel (categories view), just choose
"Change display language" under "Clock, Language and Region".
Pick your language, log off, log on, and done.

If you have another version of Vista other than those two,
such as Windows Vista Home Premium,
you'll need to purchase a "full version" of Windows
Vista in your desired language and perform a "clean install" or
install it on a separate partition or drive (dual-boot).

I have Windows Vista Ultimate, my computer was running slow, so I decided to reinstall the OS. It boots with no problem and goes as far as setting up your computer. Then a window pops up stating windows...

Your missing the files that load the operating system. Put the vista disk back in, let it run and it will eventually ask if you want to setup or repair. Choose repair and then type "fixboot". That will fix your master boot record so the operating system can load.
