Has anybody seen this remote? I was visititng a releative who recently had a home theatre system intalled in his new home. While he was showing my the multi-room capabilities of the system, he busted out this touch-screen remote control. I only breifly inspected it, and at the bottom, it said PALM. I could find a model number or anything else. Where can I find info on this remote, I went to # but I couldn't find any info on this universal remote control. He used it to control his Onkyo, Denon audio equipment, along with his Toshiba TV/VCR. Where can I find info on this unit? thanks, Matt
No offence, but are you sure it said PALM and not PRONTO?

Actually no. The PALM was printed on the top of the remote, when I said bottom, I meant near your wrist when you are holding it. Also, there was nothing attached to the remote in any way. I am pretty sure it is not a PalmPilot or PalmIII or PalmV, most of them I have seen, have at least a few buttons, and require the use of a stylus, this was touch screen. Also, their IR capabilities are limited to a foot or so I believe, which is why they would require an IR booster like you mentioned, but this remote didn't have anything like that. I called my relative last night, and asked what remote it was, but he didn't know either, he said that it cost about $210 when he had his stereo custom installed a few months ago. He said he would get back to me with the ph. # of his installer in a few days. I even went to # and I couldn't find it there anywhere either. The unit was probably about 3 or 4 inches wide, around 7 inches or so long, and maybe an inch thick, it was larger than any PalmPilot models I have seen also. I am stumped, guess I'll just have to wait a few days to hear back from my Uncle with the ph.#. thanks for your input. Matt in MI

It was probably a palm with omniremote and the IR booster they sell for it. It mounts on the bottom of the palm connecting to the serial port and you use the palm upside down. That would put the palm logo on the "bottom" with respect to the remote.

Nope, thats not it. This remote didn't have any buttons, not a single one. The whole thing was pretty much a LCD screen. Down at the bottom, in very small print, it said PALM. It didn't say Palm III or Palm IV or anything like that, just PALM. thanks for trying though, Matt in MI

All recent PalmPilots (and HandSpring Visors, and other Palm- compatibles) have built-in IR capabilities.
You just need software that speaks the right IR language; for example, Omni Remote: #
