The volume on the radio is staticky when turning the volume up or down. How can I fix it myself? It is a 1960 Magnavox stereo console.

Yes. Get a can of tuner cleaner. Remove the knob and with the stereo off spray the cleaner down the shaft. Rotate the control a number of times. Replace the knob, turn the unit on and check it. Most of the time that'll do it.

Volume button sticks and raises to max level and cannot be turned down.

It sounds from your description there is a fault in the audio section electronics rather than with the button.

It became only while the car was idling, now it's anytime, anywhere, and never on a consistent basis. The engine simply dies, turns itself off. When it happens, the check gauges light comes on. Nothing...

is your stereo the OEM (factory original) model? Does the car have a factory-installed anti-theft system? If the answer to both is Yes, you may have a logic conflict since many anti-theft systems go to and through the car's stereo. If you still have the original owner's manual, check the section on anti-theft or security systems. It may list a reset procedure that returns the system to factory defaults. If you have an aftermarket anti-theft system, you may have to disable it until troubleshooting and repair processes have been accomplished. Incidentally, by the car sitting without a battery for five years, all E-prom programming may have been degraded or lost. As for the volume increasing, some GM/Delco radios have a volume compensation feature that increases volume levels as speed increases.

I have a Pyle pldnv78i car stereo and the factory setting for the volume is set too high. How can I adjust it?

As of now, the only fix is to set the volume lower to what it should be (ex: level 2) and turn it off before turning off your vehicle. Start your vehicle and turn the radio back on, it will remember the last setting you had it on. You just have to remember to do this every time you use this unit.

Should i spray the inside of the volume knob to fix the volume?

You can try contact cleaner. Spray some in (with unit turned OFF) and move the knob up and down several times stop to stop. then try to see if it helped.

Every time i turn on my car the stereo comes on at

for 20 yrs my company has been fitting car stereos in all this time i have only ever seen this fault ounce its caused by a faulty micro ic sensor instead of remembering to stay at the last volume used when the units power is disconected (car turned of) the chip sends the volume to max sadley it would cost much more to fix than to replace the deck ..

good luck

When i turn up the volume the deck turns off then turns back on

What kind of car do you have the stereo in? It sound exactly like a bad ground wire. To trouble shoot this, simply find a good clean ground point to hook the black wire from the radio to. you can usualy find somewhere behind the dash that the factory has grounded things to. I asked what kind of car, because some fords, and nissans do not have a ground wire in the factory radio harness, even though the adtor harness you may have used will have one. Hope this helps.

Jensen vm9311 dvd indash volume is loud when i turn on car

Heres the best way to fix; Quote from manual "Programmable Turn-On Volume (Pg.12) This feature allows the user to select a turn-on colume setting regardless of the colume setting prior to turning the unit off. To program a specific volume level, push and hold the VOL/LOC/DV know (6) while the yellow volume bar is displayed on the screen. The unit will beep two times to confirm your turn-on volume setting." Ah i had the same problem. I turned to the manual and it worked for me :) Good Luck, Ern
