Question about Nikon D80 Digital Camera with 18-135mm Lens

1 Answer

D80 kit 18/135 won't make photos 'F- -' error

I purchased my cam jesturday and today I managed to make photos , untill the F rate went on 'F- -', now the camera was a kit, its a D80 nikon with the 18-135 lens/objective.

from the booklet I can figure out that the camera thinks thers no lens connected ,while ther clearly is, in no option what so ever but M I can take photos (although he doesn't seem to autofocus either )

I'm clueless and very frustrated, is there something broken cuz I just can't seem to get this issue fixed !

Unmount the lens and clean both the camera and lens contacts (the metal strips that connect body with lens) using a pencil eraser. Take care not to let any debris fall into the camera. Mount the lens and try again.

Just a thought - are your Image Stabilizer and Auto Focus switches On or Off?
Might be worth experimenting with them.
Otherwise, sorry, can't help.
May be necessary to contact your vendor.

Nikon D80 flash won't pop up

Must be a problem with the flash lock. Try to pop up the flash manually using the flash button located at the top left of the camera beside the flash. If this does not work, you may need to have the cam serviced

I have a Nikon D80 that I inherited about a year ago. Not exactly sure what I am doing but all has been fine until today. when I press the menu button to view pics, nothing happens. Am wondering if I have...

To view the pics on a D80, you do not click on the Menu button. Instead, you should click on the green button with a triangle shape pointing to the right. That is how you can review your pics.

To move between pics after clicking the button, press the left/right button or move your main dial clockwise/counter-clockwise

To close your preview session, just click on the same button with the triangle.

Can't get F3.5 aperture on the 18-135mm kit lense on d80

You may be shooting auto and there is too much light. If you want to be sure you are shooting with 18mm @ f3.5 then shoot with aperture priority (the shutter speed will adjust automatically). Ususally at a wide focal length you would want a small aperature (smaller f-stop) so this should not really be a problem.
