Did you disconnect the power adapter also after you took the battery out. Unless there is a REAL hardware problem you should also be able to push and hold your power button for at least 5 seconds and the laptop will power off.

Hi there,

if your laptop is Hibernating it is ok but if it is continuously hibernating then it is unusual.
check the battery pack of the laptop and try to change it.

Lenovo c540 wont start after sleepmode or beeing a couple of hours off. why?

Sleep and hibernation frequently asked questions
On most computers, you can resume working by pressing your computer's power button. However, not all computers are the same. You might be able to wake your computer by pressing any key on the keyboard, clicking a mouse button, or opening the lid on a laptop. Check the documentation that came with your computer or go to the manufacturer's website.

How can I prevent my computer from automatically sleeping or hibernating?

You can adjust how long your computer waits before sleeping or hibernating-or prevent it from turning itself off altogether. But be careful. On a battery powered laptop, inhibiting sleep or hibernation can result in data loss if the battery dies. Here's how to prevent your computer from entering a power-saving state:
  1. Open Power Options by clicking the Start button .jpg" alt="Picture of the Start button">, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security, and then clicking Power Options.
  2. On the Select a power plan page, click Change plan settings next to the selected plan.
  3. On the Change settings for the plan page, click Change advanced power settings.
  4. On the Advanced settings tab, double-click Sleep, double-click Sleep after, and then do one of the following:
    • If you're using a laptop, click On battery or Plugged in (or both), click the arrow, and then click Never.
    • If you're using a desktop computer, click Setting, click the arrow, and then click Never.
  5. Double-click Hibernate after, and then do one of the following:
    • If you're using a laptop, click On battery or Plugged in (or both), click the arrow, and then click Never.
    • If you're using a desktop computer, click Setting, click the arrow, and then click Never.
  6. If you also want the display to stay turned on, double-click Display, double-click Turn off display after, and then do one of the following:
    • If you're using a laptop, click On battery or Plugged in (or both), click the arrow, and then click Never.
    • If you're using a desktop computer, click Setting, click the arrow, and then click Never.
  7. Click OK, and then click Save changes.

I Hope that helps very old problem but still happens even with windows 8.1. Good Luck.

Cant get power saving mode off

Step 1:
Sleep Mode b> Sleep mode is primarily used with home computers (desktop computers). Sleep mode is designed to save the current work, programs, and settings of your computer using your computers memory, while using very little power. b> Hibernate Mode b> Hibernate mode is primarily used with laptop's. Hibernate mode is designed to save your computers current state on to the hard disk, then turn off your computer to stop using power completely. This mode is usually used when you do not plan on using your laptop for an extended amount of time. Benefits b> Using Hibernate mode is more power-efficient, but files may become fragmented over time by using this mode frequently. Sleep mode does consume more power, but the advantage that Sleep mode has over Hibernate is that it does not take as long to resume your computers former state when you are ready to continue using it.

Computer well not boot

The computer may have done a routine software update that automatically reboots the PC when complete. HP is known for this. If it fires up when you turn it on, no worries. If its DOA then thats another issue. Best regards.

My Laptop sayes Hibernating,How do I stop it.

If you cannot revive with the off/on button or the control/alt/delete option, disconnect the wall power and flip over the LT and take out the battery for a few seconds and then reinstall it. Turn it on as usual and it should restart. You may need to adjust the setup options for the standby mode.... else just log it off in the future if it hangs up again.

My Gateway laptop is hibernating and won't turn on.

Hi ckboo,

You can disable the hibernating under display properties.

Right click on an empty area on your desktop, go into power management, choose Hibernate tap and uncheck option for hibernation.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Fan on laptop intermittent Avent 7110

That can be normal. Normally cpu fans start up only when cpu reach a determined temperature. After it cools down it stops until temperature reaches starting point again.
Generally, when the fan is not working properly, the computer turns itself off after a while because of overheating.
If you have this problem, laptop turning itself off because of overheating (check it is not hibernating etc.), then you usually solve it by replacing the laptop cooling fan.
Generally, 'fan on laptop intermittent' is not a symptom of malfunction.
