Hi and welcome to FixYa,

A fes tests and ideas you may want to consider/explore:

  • power on / boot the laptop;
  • note if it makes the normal sounds/beep when doing so;
  • note if the LEDs lit up as they normally do;
  • after a sufficient time, press the CAPSLOCK and note if the CAPSLOCK indicator would change state;
  • if yes on the above, then most likely, a fault in the inverter (most likely) and/ or a faulty CCF (cold cathode florescent) lamp (likely);
  • you could confirm by connecting an external monitor temporarily;
  • alternately, you can shine a flashlight obliquely against the display screen and determine if there would be some semblance of the desktop albeit very dark;
  • if no, then it would be a hardware fault on either the motherboard, memory, and a host of other possibilities;
  • if so, then your best bet would be to seek the services of a qualified professional not unless you are considering a DIY (do-it-yourself) which would require familiarity with electronic/digital components and circuitry, use of a DVM and possibly a soldering iron.
Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

Its a laptop?
just remove the ram by opening the back socket as some screws will be connected on the socket that has to be removed first to remove the lactch under which ram is located.check out the laptop only on power adaptor.remove the battery and keep it out.if the laptop works on adapter withour battery that means the battery is faulty.but if still has the same problem on adapter also.it has to be checked at a local repair center.as they will have all the required parts in spare to replace it and check out whats the faulty in your laptop.that has to be replaced.

Remove all the wires connected at the back of the cpu/tower.and also remove all the wires from the mother board connected.then remove all the cards connected on the motherboard and then clean if any dust on the board.also remove the RAM  and clean the golden metal lines on the ram with school used pencil rubber.then reinsert every thing back and check out.if still the same p[roblem.replace the cmos battery and check out its just cost negligible to replace the cmos battery.less then a $1.it should work after that.

Hi,

Do you still have warranty on the laptop? They should replace it or repair it.

if you don't have warranty you could take the laptop apart and remove the ram.

start up without ram

then plug in one of the rams and try staring up again.

    Try first removing the batttery and unplugging power cord for ten minutes first.

    This is called hard reset and can sort out problems related with settings, RAM and electrostatic charges.

    If that does not work the unit must be taking apart and tested.

    You can start by testing RAM if you have two ram sticks. Just remove one of them and see if the computer boots up with only one RAM.

    If removing battery did not help , then the unit is faulty and must be disassembled and tested by a technician.

    Test the unit with no battery and only ac adapter.

    If still no luck find a local repair shop and have it fixed.

Can anyone recommend Wat I can do please I've recently acquired from auction a Elonex Webb oil with what seems like linox not windows but it has an administration code is there anyway around it

It's got a 1.6GHz processor - most likely Atom - 512MB RAM, Wi-Fi of course, 3 USB ports and it'll ship with both Windows and Linux. The plan is to sell them through the Carphone Warehouse either separately or for free with home broadband packages. Elonex 10 2 webbook PC at the Carphone Warehouse Tech Digest

How can you find my 25 letter digit product key for elonex webbook

If you're trying to find the key for an installed Microsoft product, this program can help you. It can also show keys for many other installed applications as well. But it won't help you if you're looking for a product key to install a program when you don't have, it won't help.

Elonex epad wont load! Switched on then the black screen with "epad" logo comes on then a black screen with "android_" flashing, waited for ages but no software load. Was working fine...

Having the same problem my tablet turns on shows epad then android flashes HELP PLEASE!!!!

This means that your epad's inside screen is damaged and this means that your epad is completely gone. You will have to purchase another one. I had the same problem and i had the choice of another epad or an ipod touch, i chose the ipod touch because it has almost the same features as the epad or even better features. I suggest that you order the epad from a chinese retailer.

I was using nokia 5220 music expess last night. while playing music i was surfing the net with opera mini5.1 and opened three tabs. the phone suddenly hanged with a white screen. on restarting some...

It sounds like you overloaded the CPU which forced it to reboot. Try removing the battery unit from behind, leaving it for 5 minutes, then reinserting the battery unit and switching the phone on. Give it a minute to fully load, then try opening your contacts and messages. If there still seems to be problems, services is where you should go to and have it checked.

Pleas help

There should be a small switch located on either the front or side of the laptop. Usually they have a small icont that looks like a small cellular tower.

Try flipping that switch and see if that works.

Elonex webbook displays anything black as red

You could have a faulty inverter or a CCFL lamp, To determine if you have a LCD screen, inverter or video card problem, read this and follow these instructions.
Defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom: Screen flashs on red/pink and off. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering with dim display or appear black. Picture flickering on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp.
Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

Wont start up

Take it out of the freezer. Try hitting ur F8 key upon startup and try to get to safe mode at least. If that does not work you probably have some hardware related issues keeping it from starting(IE bad RAM,HD,MB ETC). Check to see if it is under warranty since that might be your best bet if it is a hardware malfunction. :(
Otherwise you can swap known good parts to see what works and does not work.

Black screen

After last night and we could not get it to go I had an other look around the net and found that if I download a bios for the mother board and put it on a flash drive and booted it off the flash drive so that the bios updated I got the netbook to work again. I quickly then did a back up of all the files. Thank you for your help last night.
