Question about Radio Shack Pro-2052 Scanner

1 Answer

Constant static Hi, I have owned this scanner for 3 years and it worked great until this week. I still get the transmissions, but it turns to static immediately after and can't get it to stop. The static button sometimes works, but not very much. I tried resetting it and that did not work. Also looking to purchase another, preferably a handheld and battery operated, any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

I would love to, just tell me where!

Hi, thanks for the response. The other things I can think of, was that we lost the electricity a few times in 24 hours and a new phone line was installed. After those 2 items, it started the static. I have clear everything (other than taking it apart).

Sounds like a tech problem internally, may need cleaning on the pot. A service center can fix it. Or could be an Ant problem? Check your Ant connection make sure they are good and not dirty. Mositure in our homes builds up inside and on all connection. 1200 grit Sand papers works well on ant connection. Or did you move the scanner? that will cause problems as well.

Doesn't it have a squelch adjustment?(it allows you to adjust sensitivity of the "gate" on the receiver).Turn the knob counter-clockwise until it just goes quiet. The receiver will be silent until a transmission is detected.

2004 Mountaineer hesitates when downshifting going up a hill and looses power, is this a transmission issue? It has 99,200 miles on it and is in great shape.

What is in great shape? You may have multipule issues

At 99,000 miles your O2 Sensors are worn out
Your TPS Sensor could be effecting shift stratagy
Your MAF Sensor may need cleaning
Spark plugs are only good until 60,000 miles
Transmission Solenoid Contol Packs,go bad on fords
Egr Valves don't last long on a ford
If you don't change trans fluid on all vehicles every 3 years
or 30,000 miles your in trouble, power steering fluid also,
or loose a steering rack
Is the gas filter old and partially clogged?
You may have an ignition coil going bad, very, very coming
on fords and you get one a year or more

You just need to do preventative maintenance and diagnostic
testing once a year, rather than driving several years until you
have issues then get upset.
Todays vehicles need constant supervision

Hi, my name is John. Welcome to FixYa. Get your frequency,s here www.RadioReference.com . Turn your Squelch until you here some static then turn it back just a little until you don't hear any static. Extend your antenna all the way out. If still no sound , try plugging a external speaker in the external speaker in the jack on the unit. If you have sound now, replace the speaker inside.. good luck and thanks for choosing FixYa....John

Scanner static

Use the channel lock out control, unless it is a frequency that you listen to, you may have interference that is causing random static. use a noise filter mechanism to minimize this problem, or buy a specialized scanner antenna that's guaranteed to minimize static.
If no avail, you may need to send it in to a store.

Hope this helps!

BC350A loud static

It may be that someone you are monitoring is now using digital or at least parttime.

when they go digital, you may only hear static.

hope this helps.

If your still having the problem, it could be that the transmitter for that freq lost some of it's power, so your scanner cannot pick up a clear signal. If everything else is working ok, that's my guess. Hope this helps,,, Mechanic
