Ariston Microgenus 27 boiler - leaking motorised valve

We have an Ariston MicroGenus 27 boiler fitted in our house, the motorised valve is leaking, the leak appears to be coming from the upper casing, when I removed the electrical connection the water appears to be pooling through the 3 prongs on the motorised valve and running down the diverter valve body and dripping out of the bottom of the boiler.
Is it simply a case of unclipping the (now rusty) spring clip, removing the motorised head and replacing with a new part and spring clip or is there something more sinister going on? I'm assuming I will need to drain the system down before replacing the motorised valve?
Thanks in advance...
James

The leak is coming from a seal around the pin that the motor acts upon, the seal does not come as a replaceable part on its own, so the whole flow group as it is called will need to be replaced, approximate price 170 to 200 pounds inc vat, makers part no 998613. plus 2 or 3 hours labour of a corgi registered engineer. If your boiler is more than 6 years old and you have not had to replace the fan or other parts yet, then think about getting a new high efficiency boiler, it could be a better long term solution.

Sorry Terry - I'm not used to this site! Question was - anyone know what the error message E34 means on an Ariston Boiler MicroGenus 24HE please?

The information I have found states it is a problem with the pressure switch. A faulty pressure switch will prevent ignition from occurring. Here is a Youtube video link showing the issue. Reading the comments below may assist you in isolating your problem. Hope this helps!

What could be the likely problem with a ariston microgenus 23 mffi boiler when there is no spark present for HW or CH fan runs for approximately 1minute then fume led comes on air pressure switch, pcb,...

Paul, is the exhaust vent blocked by any bird's nests or by any other type of obstruction?

Have you changed any of the vent pipes that would change the configuration beyond its maximum values, causing the system to shut-off into fail-safe?

Does the exhaust/vent fan cycle on?

Does the flame failure LED illuminate?

Have you checked your room thermostat, by checking its continuity with a multimeter?

Have you checked and tested the gas valve?

You may have lime scale build-up in the secondary heat exchanger which may have an adverse affect on the flow rate, once again, causing the system to shut-off into fail safe mode.

You may also need to check the main circuit flow switch...

Ariston Microgenus 27mffi combi boiler

im an engineer and recently had exactly the same thing with this ariston boiler, i found out it was the the 'air pressure switch', this is a switch which is part of the ignition, it works in conjuction with the fan. when the boiler fires up the air pressure switch makes, if its faulty it can break the circuit mid flow and cause the burner to shut down therefore giving intermittent hot water and heating, theres a possibility that the aps tubes may be damaged as well so ensure they'e condition is good. hope this helps you

Ariston microgenus 27 pressure on 0

Filling loop is underneath the boiler, easily identified as a chrome coloured braided pipe with a black tap at either end. Open right hand tap first then left hand one . Fill system till presure gauge reads just over 1 bar when system is cold. Then turn both taps off.

I hate these boilers!

If the pump is not circulating change it. If the pump is ok you may have a blockage in the diverter valve
