CRAFTSMAN GARAGE DOOR OPENER PROBLEM

I live in Oregon and have a Sears Craftsman garage door opener, model # 139.53615SR. It does not use safety photo cells. The problem is that I recently replaced the worm gear that was worn out. I put the unit back together again "pefectly." Now when I push the button or use the remote, all the motor does is run for one second one direction, stop, and then runs in reverse for only one more second. It does this crazy cycle with or without the chain attached, and I have tried every adjustment possible and that is all it does, i.e. one second one way, stops, and one second in reverse. What is possibly the problem? I have double/tripple checked every connection, and the problem persists.

As I mentioned, the problem has nothing to do with the unit attached to the chain. With or without the chain, the unit runs one second one direction, stops, and then the motor reverses itself and runs for only one second. When you push the button on the remote or the wall switch, it does the same blame thing over and over again. It did this with every chain adjustment possible (and no matter what I did with the limit switches or pressure switch), and when the chain was removed, it acted identically the same way, one second forward, stop, one second back.

What is the Saftey on the chain? Please clarify.

As I have said many times, the unit runs one second forward, stops, and runs one second in reverse. It does this with or without the chain attached. With the chain attached I have done every adjustment imaginable, and it still does one second forward, stops, and reverses for one second. My guess is that something is not connected properly with the wiring (everything was put together immaculately as far as I can tell), or there is some quirky thing going on with the mother board. What saist thou?

well most door opners have a rope or chain that you can pull to open the door with out the motor... just wanted to make sure you have it in the right spot.. sometimes if you set it in the wrong spot .the opener will only run for a few seconds? not sure if you have 1 on ur chain or not?

My craftsman garage door opener is beeping (2 hours). How can I stop it

Our garage door opener has a safety beam across the floor which prevents the door from closing on objects which are sitting there. This safety feature also makes an annoying beeping sound each time the beam is crossed. This tutorial will show you how to disable the beep, but still keep beam functional. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cn_vGe_7_x4

No photo necessary. There is no learn button on that opener. It was built before learn buttons were even dreamed of.

Genie garage door will not close if safety photo eye sees sunlite

Most photo electric eyes have sensitivity settings. A small dial or screw that can be adjusted.
If there is none, then another trick would be to recess back further from the actual opening, and put is on the wall as far as possible.
Finally, you could add a tube to act as a sunshield. They probably have one that can be special ordered for it.
And it even that does not work, consider taping a sheet of polarized film over it, like a single sunglass lense.

Replaced door sensors now door will not go down and light flashes

The safety eyes are either installed wrong, or you have the wrong type. Craftsman (liftmaster) has what they they call old style and new style safety eyes. You can not interchange the types.

Sears craftsman garage door opener

HOLDING DOWN THE WALL BUTTON OVERRIDES THE SAFETY EYES.
WHEN HOLDING IT DOWN MAKES THE DOOR CLOSE PROPERLY THE PROBLEM IS IN THE SAFETY EYES.

ARE BOTH LEDS ON? - CHECK FOR A LOOSE OR BROKEN WIRE.
ARE THE EYES WIRED CORRECTLY?
ARE THEY AIMED AT EACH OTHER?

Wiring chamberlain 1/2 h.p. security+

2 is the shared nuetral for the photo eyes and the wall button. 1 and 2 are for the wall button and 2 and 3 are for the safety sensors. All devices are polarized so keep that in mind. Thanks BB
