I am unable to get my datamax E4203 to work. I can install it as a windows
printer and it works fine. When I try to install it as a generic text printer
it doesn't print at all. I really don't want to use an additional program to
be able to print my RMS labels.

Got it working as a windows printer, thanks. Now I have a new problem. I have
used 3 of 9 barcodes for all of my 8000+ look ups. Unfortuately this is not
in the list of barcodes available for the printer. Also I find the quality
of the label editor to be quite lacking. Is there anyway to create my labels
outside of RMS and import them?

JimK,
The barcode selection is tied to the item, not the printer. Look at the Item's properties on the General tab.
Just make sure to have enough room for the barcode on the label

JimK,
Don't go on what the other label looks like, see if it scans. Go into Notepad, scan the label and see what appears on the screen.
I don't know what size label you're trying to use, but here is a 1.125" x 3.5" label we've used for a Dymo printer using the Windows driver and RMS' label designer. Try it and modify in the RMS Label Designer as you need.
Otherwise, try to just create a label with _just_ the ILC and a barcode and add from there.

unfortunately the barcode it's printing is not the one tied to the item. It
looks nothing like the one printed with our other printer, a cognitive bar
code blaster generic text printer. Of course this is using a different label
format as it's not installed as a windows printer

I'm not familiar with that printer, but if you can set it up with a
Windows driver, you can use the label editor built into RMS to design
your labels.
