    Hi Mike,

I have had the whole dryer in pieces. the 2 kind of 'micro switches' ( whether they are tco or something) in the back panel that come straight off the heating coils. when i put a meter across one of them and press the button it switches open closed on the meter, and the other one doesn't switch, open closed, constantly at 60 ohms closed. could that be the prob?

Sounds like the heating element is bad or the heater box fuse and thermostat one of the 2 is bad,if you have a meter you can check all 3 on the ohms setting, let me know-mike

Hi I just replaced the element on my hotpoint aquarius it work fine for about 10 minutesthen just went to cold air I checked the element and it seems fine what else could cause this to happen.

Check your thermal fuse. Also, the upper limit thermostat could have taken a nose dive. Another culprit could be the centrifugal switch on the motor, but that's pretty rare. Also, make sure your vent hose and venting system to the outside is clear of any obstructions. That's usually the reason why elements and thermal fuses burn out.

Good luck!

MY HOTPOINT AQUARIUS TCM580 CONDENSER DRYER STOPS WORKING AFTER ABOUT FIVE MINUTES USAGE AND IN SO DOING TRIPS OUT THE MAIN HOUSE FUSE, WHAT CAN CAUSE THIS PROBLEM

DRYER OVERHEATING:

Heating Element
A defective heating element can make a dryer too hot. If the element partially shorts out, it can produce heat all the time, regardless of whether the dryer is calling for heat. Remove the heating element to inspect it. The coils should not be touching each other or anything else.

Other Causes and Conditions
Air Flow Problem
Dryers need good ventilation to work properly. If the vent is clogged it can make the dryer too hot. Clean all of the vent tubing thoroughly.

Cycling Thermostat
Although not common, a defective cycling thermostat can make the dryer too hot. The cycling thermostat is supposed to turn on and off the heat to maintain the proper temperature. If the thermostat is defective it may keep the heat on too long. The thermostat is not adjustable or repairable, it must be replaced.

Felt Seal
Most dryers have a felt seal at the front and rear of the drum to keep the heat inside the drum. If the felt seal is worn away or missing, the dryer may keep heating and make the dryer too hot. This is not common.

Blower Wheel
A defective blower wheel will not spin properly and will not vent the hot air, making the dryer too hot. Check to see if there is adequate airflow out of the dryer.

My hotpoint aquarius dryer is not got any heat

Most likely reason is failure of thermostat/s or heater element.
As you do not specify model, Ir is difficult to tell you exactly where to locate them, but generally speaking they are at the rear of the dryer.
Hope this helps.

My Hotpoint is not drying appropriately. Sometimes it takes 3 or 4 cycles to do the job. The heating element seems to turn on but I don't know if it stays on, I just don't feel the heat inside the dryer,...

Vent Frequently there's an obstruction in the vent duct from the dryer to the outside of the house. For the dryer to heat properly, the duct must be clean and clear of lint or any other substance. Heating element Your dryer's heating element may be partially burned out. If it is, your dryer still heats, but at such a low temperature that it takes three or four times as long to dry the clothes. If the element is partially burned out, replace it. Internal ductwork Your dryer has some internal ductwork. If it gets clogged, your dryer can't dry properly. In most dryers, to get to the internal ductwork to clear the clog, you have to substantially disassemble the dryer. A quick way to check for internal clogs is to remove the lint filter and use a flashlight to inspect the inside of the duct. If it looks clogged and you can't clear it using your vacuum, contact a qualified appliance repair technician.
