    Hi Mike,

I have had the whole dryer in pieces. the 2 kind of 'micro switches' ( whether they are tco or something) in the back panel that come straight off the heating coils. when i put a meter across one of them and press the button it switches open closed on the meter, and the other one doesn't switch, open closed, constantly at 60 ohms closed. could that be the prob?

Sounds like the heating element is bad or the heater box fuse and thermostat one of the 2 is bad,if you have a meter you can check all 3 on the ohms setting, let me know-mike

Common faults -
1 The heating elements can fail(meaning open circuit)
2 There are cut-outs (T.O.C's) thatmight need resetting
3 The thermostats (stats) can tripout or burn out (meaning opencircuit)
4 Moderntumble dryers also have sensors and pcb's (Printed circuitboards) thesehaveprograms that can fail and circuitry although most should produce an errorcodeshowing you were the fault is.
5 Faultyconnections and burned wires may also bethe fault.

Drying time on aquarius vtd20

The timer is an electro/\mechanical one , and is usually non repairable, the only thing you can do short of replacing it, is to remove the top cover, and clean away any fluff or dust that you can see, and spray inside the the unit with wd 40.
If this does not solve the prob, then you will have replace the timer complete.
Please rate my fixya solution.
Thanks.

Hotpoint vtd20 dryer aquarius - cuts out when overheats

You can get spare parts on line by going to,
www.hotpoint.co.uk
Re your other prob ,it is probably due to a fault with the heater, disconnect the heater and run the dryer .if it does not cut out then your heater needs replacing.

Dryer keeps cutting out

Dryer outlet hose could be plugged or restricted not letting adequate air cirulate. Check this and the filter to be sure both are clear of obstructions. Make sure the flapper at the end of the dryer vent is working correctly.... A blocked vent will cause the temp to get too high and the unit shuts down rather than burn down the house.

Aquarius 1200 wd62 - Dryer not working

Most likely it is some sort of blockage in the vent, although it could be a bad blower. Check the lint filter and vent openings for a blockage.
