Go to settings, then device information. While pressing the volume up button, tap above the volume bar and a popup menu will appear. Uncheck "Enable demo mode", then power down your Nook. When you restart it, the Nook should be in regular mode.
access Settings > Device Information and tap above the volume bar while holding Volume + button, a menu pops up...unchecked "Enable Demo Mode". Turn off the Nook, turn it back on, demo mode should be off now.
-DO NOT- try and verify if demo mode is off before rebooting the device.
If all else fails, bring it in to your local B&N and seek the Nook specialist out. They should be able to turn it off for you.

check and see if the hold button is down, if so slide it to the off position. Reset the device by holding in the power button and the volume + button down for three 3 seconds.
