Question about Linksys WRT160N Wireless Router
I just bought a wireless router today and installed it, but it said it couldn't run the install (or something like that).
What does that mean and what can i do?? or what should i do?
if the setup is not workind that fine probably the cd is not working,u can setup the router manually without the cd,you just need to connect the devices properly, make sure the cables are plugged in the proper ports, once all the setup is done, turn off all the devices that is you modem, computer and router and then wait for 30 secs and after that turn the devices back in a sequence?(modem 1st then the router and the computer)check the lights on the router,(2nd light from the right on the router should be on since that is the internet light)go to you computer..click on start, click on run and in the box type in cmd,hit enter after that,in the black box type in ipconfig and hit enter, once you hit enter you will see a list of results check the default gatway it will be something like 192.168.1.1,,make a note of the default gateway that you see..check if you are able to go online if you are able to go online then its fine the router has automatically you isp settings if not then in the internet explorer page, the place you put in the web address type in the default gateway it will tell you to punch in the user name and password, the default username is admin and the password is blank if this doesnot work do the viceversa use blank as username and password as admin..it will open the router page..in the first screen you will see something that says setup in the screen out in the setting if u ave a dsl connection then you must put in the isp details if you have a cable connection then the router is set by default to extract the isp settings and once you are in this page you can go ahead and setup the wireless connection..
here is a link for the user guide,u can go through this to understand to setup the wireless connection incase you are planning to use a wireless connection..
hope this helps you..
