Looking for help this morning with the exact same porblem. Blade also spins freely but once pluged in it only moves a fraction and the buzz is very loud. If left buzzing the heater will trip and i will have to hit the reset button. Looked up a replacement motor on Reddy Parts and it was $169!!! I need a better solution or confirmation if it's a failed motor.

Neither of you state the model of heater that is giving you starting problems. many of the motors have an external starting capacitor (relay). If so, you may just need that part, if your heater is equipped with one. On the other hand, many have an internal capacitor , which is not servicable.

I just put a new fan on a R150B reddy heater and the flame increases thas goes out and on again Is position of fan wrong? It worked fine before the fan broke

Hi,
The position of the fan is very critical to proper operation. The pressure is also very critical and if you replaced the fan you will also now have to check and adjust the pressure.
This shows how to replace the rotor.

http://www.reddyparts.com/rotor%20replacement.htm

This shows how to check and set your pressure.

I also have wrote a tip that kind of summarizes everything.

Take your time and go through every step and you will get your heater back up and running again.

When filled with kerosene then plugged in, the heater will kick on for about 3 seconds and the fan will run but it will not ignite, then it shuts off. reddy heater 55, 55000btu. runs on K1 or fuel oil.

Take air preassure from an air hose to turn the fan blades to loosen everything up. Time for afull service, like change the vanes in the pump, 3- filters fuel--2 air.

Kersone reddy heater won't start, just buzzes

The R150B uses motor #097308-06, has a split phase motor. The secondary windings, which give the armature a jump-start, have gone bad. The motor is not serviceable. Try reddyparts.com - they seem to have the most parts.

150,000BTU kerosene heater won't start,just buzzes.

Your starting capacitor is bad. It's usually mounted on the side of the motor. If not, it's the thing that the motor wires go to from the end of the motor. Usually, less than $10.

Reddy Heater 70 (Kerosene) won't start

In the same temperature range that is giving you trouble, run an ext cord (110v) from a known good household circuit and plug the heater into the cord. If the heater runs OK, then the inverter is your problem.

try this, take off the top cover. plug in the heater and when the humming starts, rotate the fan sharply with a screwdriver. keep your fingers away from the fan. if the fan spins under power your start winding is shot. get a new motor. www dot desatech dot com
