Looking for help this morning with the exact same porblem. Blade also spins freely but once pluged in it only moves a fraction and the buzz is very loud. If left buzzing the heater will trip and i will have to hit the reset button. Looked up a replacement motor on Reddy Parts and it was $169!!! I need a better solution or confirmation if it's a failed motor.

Neither of you state the model of heater that is giving you starting problems. many of the motors have an external starting capacitor (relay). If so, you may just need that part, if your heater is equipped with one. On the other hand, many have an internal capacitor , which is not servicable.

Fan heater blower on dimplex cadogan CGN 20 not working properly0 optimyst electric stove

Take it out and see if the fan wil turn by hand. It may have somethng obstructing it. The clicking is the motor overload. It wil burn out if it continues to keep clicking.

I have a 110,000 btu reddy heater model r110. When i plug it in it just makes a buzzing noise? I am pretty good at fixing things so i took off the top, the fan on the motor turns freely when its not...

Steven, I thoroughly enjoyed your thorough explanation of what and how it e. Really, the best I have ever read, so far.

What may have happened it that the fan sensor may need readjusting or resetting. In case you have misplaced your Owners Manual, I have included a link to it that you can download and print for future reference. Pay particular attention to Pages 6 & 7, as well as the Troubleshoot Guide. If all else fails, get a bigger hammer! Just kidding. If you find you need any replacement parts, you can order them directly for

Owners Manual link below.

Hope this helps you solve the problem.

My reddy heater pro110 motor buzzes and trips reset button. fan seems hard to turn but will eventually start up and run after turning by hand a few times

You can try oiling the bearings. That may help, but the bearing are not replaceable so you may need a new fan motor. 3-n-1 makes an oil bottle with a long spout that you can reach inside the fan motor to put oil right on the bearings. Tilt the motor so the oil runs into the bearings.

Will the fan on the reddy heater not run if the ignighter is bad? When i plug it in the fan doesn't run.Do i need to replace the motor?

The fan motor runs regardless of the igniter as it is also the fuel pump. Possibly you may need to replace the motor but try this first. Remove the top section of the heater this exposes the fan motor, try spinning the motor by hand,it should spin freely if it does not try some light oil in the front and rear bearings of the motor and turn it by hand until it frees up. You may need to do this several times!! Now that it is spinning free put the heater back together and try it out. If it does not work a new motor is in your future. Hope this works out for you.

Hello i have a international harvester model 100 diesel portable torpedo haeter. my problem is that when i plug it in i get a humming noise and it doesnt start. can u please help????

Sounds like the fan/fuel pump motor is not turning so try this. Take the top section of the heater tube off, this exposes all of the internal working parts. Now locate the fan motor and fan, try turning the fan by hand, should spin nice and easy if not take a light oil or I like PB Buster and oil bearings on the shaft behind the fan, then first set in the front of the motor, then the bearings at the rear of the motor. You do this and spin the fan by hand as many times as it takes for that fan to spin freely. Then plug it in and try to fire it off, if it worked shut it off put it back together and happy heating. If not you may need a new fan motor or could be something in your fuel pump, usually it will be motor related .

I just put a new fan on a R150B reddy heater and the flame increases thas goes out and on again Is position of fan wrong? It worked fine before the fan broke

The position of the fan is very critical to proper operation. The pressure is also very critical and if you replaced the fan you will also now have to check and adjust the pressure.
This shows how to replace the rotor.

This shows how to check and set your pressure.

I also have wrote a tip that kind of summarizes everything.

Take your time and go through every step and you will get your heater back up and running again.
