Question about Yamaha HTR-5650 Receiver

TV Audio out to HRT 5650 receiver

I am trying to find the input port on the back of the 5650 receiver where I can attach the audio out (red/white) cables from my TV in order to have the sound run to my speakers. I have a CD player and DVD player already attached without a problem, but I can't get the sound from the TV to come through the speakers.

You may need to enable the fixed audio output line level from the TV. Some TV`s require you to enter the AUDIO menu/setup selection on the TV remote controller, and then enable the AUDIO OUTPUT Jacks, this will turn off the TV built in speakers and engage the audio RCA Jacks.

I am trying to hook my wii to my Onkyo receiver. The Plasma is a Pioneer and you can't hook the Wii directly to it. I have the yellow, white, red cable that comes with the Wii.

Hello Julie

Thank you for using Fixya!!

OK, this is actually very easy once you get the hang of it:

The Yellow, Red and white cable you have, is actually the Video(Yellow) and the 2 stereo Audio cables(Red and White).

Now, the Yellow wire goes into the video port on the gaming unit, and into the Video input port on the TV itself. This is usually The AV channel's port.

The white and Red cable goes into the audio port on the gaming console, and into the audio in or AUX port on the receiver.

This should do the trick, but you will need to remember the following:

Once you want to use the gaming device, you should set the TV on the AV channel, n=and the receiver on the AUX channel.

Feel free to let me know if yu need any further assistance.

Kind regards

I've got a Yamaha HTR-5650 receiver and am trying to attach it to a Samsung series 4 plasma TV using component cables. I do this and get no picture on the screen. Is there something more I need to do on...

My Onkyo has a menu for entering what is being connected to what input. TV may have a similar menu as well. I myself would opt for HDMI whenever possible. (Look online for the cheapest you can find as the HDMI cables in stores are grossly overpriced.)

I have an older Samsung surround sound kit that does not have optical or HDMI connections. I cannot get the sound for my PS3 or the TV or anything else connected to the TV to come through the receiver and...

Most TV's have a MONITOR OUT connections, sometimes called audio out.

This may be either analogue (RED / WHITE) or digital (optical or coax) simply run these back to the receiver's input and you should be good. Many TV you have to go into the menu and disable your TV speakers and enable audio output.

Cheers,

Kevin

Hi, I am having trouble connecting my Nintendo Wii to my Onkyo TX-SR507

Take the adapter cable from the Wii that plugs into the back of the Wii and converts the output(audio/video) into RCA style pin plugs, you will have: RED=right channel audio, plug it into any of the red audio INPUT on your Onkyo, then you will have WHITE=left channel audio, plug it into the other white INPUT jack next to the red plug on the Onkyo, then you will have YELLOW= video(picture) that will go directly to the yellow video INPUT on the back or side INPUTS of your TV.
Then when you want to play the Wii, set the input mode on the Onkyo to the inputs that you connected the red and white plugs into, then change the input on your TV to which ever the input is labeled on your TV in which you plugged the yellow plug into, you now will have sound comming from your Onkyo and the Wii up on the TV screen ready to play. Good luck!

How to connect to an analog tv

Try to locate the composite video/audio in(1) and audio (2) out sockets of your tv.
(1): three small round sockets, one yellow, one white, one red (2): two small round sockets, red and white. (only if you want sound from your tv on your marantz receiver)
You will need a composite audio/video cable: 51433a4.jpg
and a composite audio cable: db5db51.jpg

Connect the composite video/audio cable (1):
the yellow lead to MULTI OUT (yellow) the white lead to MULTI OUT (white) the red lead to MULTI OUT (red)
on your tv: connect these cables to the respective yellow, red and white input. (there should be a text like: game in/dvd in/ext in/AV-1/VCR) If all you see at the back is a big socket like this one: 0f41fcb.jpg

you will need a SCART-to-composite adapter, like this:

(2) To get audio from your tv to your Marantz, locate an 'audio out' (red + white round connectors) on your tv, and connect these pins using cable (2) to TV (complete bottom left on your Marantz).

I CANT GET MY SAMSUNG DIGITAL HOME THEATER SYSTEM TO WORK WITH MY REGULAR TV...WORKS WITH THE DVD BUT NOT ON TV...HELP

There should be audio outputs on the back of your TV, probably red and white. If you have audio from the DVD working, the hook-up is the same idea as for TV. Those audio cables that come from the DVD player go into the back of the receiver, correct? The audio cables should come from the TV audio outputs into the back of the receiver as well. There could be many sets of inputs listed(game,CD,tape, vcr, etc). Look for the inputs (that should also be red and white) on the back of the receiver labeled Audio In or Cable/Satellite. Hope this helps. It could be this simple or it might not be.
