Question about LG 37LG30 37 in. LCD HDTV

1 Answer

LG 37LG30 has stopped auto adjusting to screen format.

Over the last week my 37LG30 has stopped automatically switching from 16:9 to 4:3 and vise versa depending on the programing and channel. It is connected to a HD DVR using HDMI cable. I have double checked in the menu that "Set By Program" is select for the screen ratio. It has just devolpeds this problem and previously has never had any problem auto adjusting. I have not changed any hardware or cables. I can't say for sure if my daughter wasn't playing in the menus somewhere I haven't looked. Hope someone has a solution!

Try restoring to factory settings for everything(I believe there is an option there in one of the options menus). Double check to then see if it's set to set by program.

If that fails to work you may be having a bad main board issue if it is the TV. Make sure it isn't your cablebox being stupid, though.

How do I adjust the picture on my LG lcd tv it is too large for the screen?

On my LG (32LD320H)

The control is under
  • Menu > Picture
  • Aspect Ratio: (16:9 for most HD content. Use 'Just Scan' or 'Set by Program' for auto sizing.)
  • You may need to adjust your cable box or DVD for HD and matching display parameters.

Press the hd zoom # button or format/aspect button on your cable box/satellite box remote to adjust picture size. If that doesn't work try the below troubleshooting steps.

First make sure that your television is on the right input. i.e your cable box might be connected with both a coaxial cable and a component or hdmi cable. You might be on the input for the coaxial cable by mistake. Next check the resolution of your cable box and make sure it matches what your television can display. For example you should not have your cable box set at 1080i if this is a 720p television. Next make sure it is formatted for a 16:9 television under its (the cable box's) set up menu. Try pressing the wide/view mode/aspect/format button on your television's remote to adjust picture size.

Yes, it is possible the settings from your cable box maybe set to the wrong ratio eg:letterbox. Depending on what type of box you have, look in the cable box menu for a settings option, then change the aspect ratio to a different format.
