This typewriter is probably 15 to 20 years old but has very limited use. However "out of the blue" it decides it wants to print a letter intead of a number I've chosen, and vice versa. Any thoughts or ideas? I do not have the manual to reference.
SOURCE: Only typing half letters and numbers
On the WheelWriter series, sometimes the platen may pop out of position, causing only half the letters to print. If this is the case, easially solved... Using the left and right platen knobs, firmly push down to lock it back in place. Hope this helps....MediaMan

Under the ribbon there is a motor that drives the print wheel try to get some light oil on the front and rear bearings (wd 40 usally works well) its a little hard to get to the rear one.

Either the print solenoid is gummy or the plastic cap on the plunger is broken. They are available but a little tricky to install.
