switch off machine
while holding down 0+8 buttons awitch on when the machine is in test mode key in 400 then start key in 0 and enter switch the machine off and wait awhile switch on if the error returns you must change thermisters and themo fuses
If you can tell that the fuser is trying to heat up then you are going to have to replace the thermistors. The thermistors or thermisters are 2 parts in the fuser that "read" the fuser temperature. When 1 or both go bad then the machine can not "see" the heat and thus throws the code. Ricoh's in particular have more issues with the thermisters than other brands. Here is a link to a site that has the thermistors and a picture of what they look like.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.
The Fuser Thermister is not working properly. The Fuser may need to be replaced or the two Thermisters need to be replaced on the fuser. This is what the code is calling for. A local Ricoh tech should have these parts. Hope this helped!
enter sp mode with the following combination
yellow key then 1 0 7 and hold down stop till the screen changes go to copy sp then scroll down to 7 datalog and down to 897 sc jam reset and execute the turn off the machine and back on
you need to reset the fuser latch as it has a fuser error code most likely needs new thermisters,
anyways give this a go, hold down 2 and 5 keys together and power on machine, this will put you into to a service mode call 25 mode, go to dip switch 3 and bit 1 and then next to bit 1 hit the key that says turn off,
turn machine off and back on should clear error code, if it doesnt you need new thermisters, even when you put in new thermisters you still need to clear this error in service mode
