I have the same problem. I have followed all the instructions on the installation CD and connected all the cables as it asked me to - then when I get to the final step, it waits for about 2-3 minutes and then tells me I haven't plugged in my Ethernet cable, which I have!

Have tried configuring the router without installing the CD without success - it appears the router does work, but won't let me on the internet. In fact, when I plug in my ADSL cable into the router, it causes my landline phone to go dead!!

Check the IP address on the Vista wireless network connection. Make sure that there is not static IP address on the wireless connection. That could be one of the reason.

Hello, I just installed a new router, and it all

verify your internet modem it connected to the WAN port on your WRT160N, login to the WRT160N and go to the "status" tab and see what your internet status is. You should see a page similar to this:

Verify your router has an Internet IP address. If it does not, then you haven't finished configuring your router. If it does have an IP address, then turn off your firewall and see if you can get connected that way.

Changed my modem and now my wrt160n dosen't work

I recommend calling your ISP and have them synch your new cable modem with their connection. They may need to register the hardware address of your new modem for them to be able to recognize it and grant internet access.

Hope this helps.

Linksys router wrt160n unable to be detectd

If that is the case you must do a hard reset first. Hold the reset button at the back of the router for 30 seconds then unplug the power for 30 seconds and plug it back in. Make sure your computer is connected to port 1 and your modem is connected to internet port of the router. Try to set it up again.
