Question about Valco Runabout Tri Mode Jogger

Front wheels keep getting stuck in swivel postion

I have a valco baby tri mode stroller.(runabout). The front wheels work fine in the locked postion but when I I put them in the swivel position and I am turning the stroller the wheels get stuck and will not straighten out. I took it to two different bike shops, one said they couldn't fix it, and the other couldn't figure out how to get the cap off to get to the bearings. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to get this stroller fixed. I live in Vancouver BC. This stroller carries three children and it is very heavy when I have to lift the front to turn the stroller.

There is a company called Buggy Pit stop which valets as well as repairs pushchairs. I used them when i gave my old dusty broken pushchair to my sister. I had it repaired and valetted by them. They did a great job and they were not that expensive either.Hope this helps. Their number is 020 8861 0038.

SOURCE: We have a valco runabout stroller and the front

Hi,

There is a device on this stroller called a hex lock which when unlocked will allow the front wheel to swivel.

The front wheel is designed to be in a locked position when running or walking fast as the stroller is supposed to be more stable at speed in the locked position. However, there are some reports of the Hex lock warping and causing the stroller to track severely to the left or right when in locked position. A defect such as this is a safety issue and will be repaired at no extra cost to the customer if it is found to be the case on the stroller.

It certainly sounds like this is what is wrong with your stroller i.e it is not tracking in a straight line due to a misalignment of the hex mechanism.

The hex mechanism is a plastic sleeve that slides down over the hex-shaped front pivot, locking it in place so you could experiment with this by lifting it to allow the wheel to swivel and see if this improves the situation and control of the stroller.

However, I should say that some owners are complaining that this device does not always stay either up or down as designed and because of this it has a tendency to lock or unlock the wheel at unexpected times. An improved hex mechanism has been fitted to later strollers by the manufacturer.

For this reason, I would advise that you have the stroller checked over by the companys service representative by contacting the vendor where you purchased the stroller.

Any defects of this nature should be repaired at the manufacturers expense and not yours.

Hope this helps.

Please do leave a vote for the solution. Thanks.

SOURCE: replacement parts.

Many Valco Baby models are equipped with 12 inch tires. Just like a car or bike, punctures can occur. A 12 inch inner tube or bicycle tire repair kit would be all you need to seal the puncture. If need be, tubes can be purchased from your local retailer or contact them at (USA) 800 610 7850 or email info@valcobaby.com Tubes are not covered under warranty.

Our Valco Runabout pram (about 3 years old and a 3 wheeler)does not steer properly. The front wheel does not pivot when trying o turn

I have just removed the front wheel and liberally greased the inside top to bottom with specific aluminium lubricant (which the bike shop told me was good for bearings) and immediate improvement. fingers crossed that it lasts. looking at other posts, make sure that you put the front wheel back on securely.

Valco Tri Mode Stroller - car seat adaptor

the car seat goes in so that the baby is facing you if you are pushing. the bar on the adapter goes into the two plastic pieces sticking out of the back of the car seat. the red hook in the graco seat will latch on. it is confusing because the baby is seemingly far from the person pushing.
