Question about HP Pavilion dv6000z Notebook

Wi-fi will not stay connected to HP dv6000

I recently started losing conncetion to my Netgear router even though the laptop recognizes the router as being there with excellent signal strength. Sometimes repairing the connection will work and other times not. When it does connect the speed varies drastically from the 54Mbps one minute to as low as 1Mbps the next. The only settings that I have recently changed were some printer settings.

Why is My HP printer not connecting to Wi-fi?

You sound as though you wish the printer to directly connect to the laptop via wi-fi. This is not usually the case in home networks. Most home networks use a wi-fi router to link all wi-fi components. This is because your laptop is not capable of handling the routing duties itself, nor is the printer (normally). The wi-fi router assigns the IP addresses that the devices use to communicate to the router and each other. That said, IF you ARE using a router, perhaps you are not entering the security code that the router needs to allow the device to attach to the network. If you are NOT using a router, then you still MIGHT be able to use the printer with the laptop if it has a "direct connect" capability. You would need to look at the printer documentation and instructions on how to set it up. Unfortunately, wi-fi isn't as simple as just turning it on an waiting for a connection to take place.

I attempted to add a password to my wifi and now my laptop does not recognize the router or network.

Go into your laptops wi fi connections and try deleting the wi fi connection from your laptop. Then search for the wi fi from your laptop and connect as a new connection. This should resolve the issue.

I have a Netgear WPN824 v2 router that has been consistently losing the connection with various devices: laptop, iPad, iPhone. The Internet works and then suddenly stops. I go into the WiFi connections,...

Try to change the wi-fi channel to another one. Sometimes, due to interference with other wireless devices, there are these problems. Also try to use a network cable to connect at the router to locate if the internet connection with the modem is still available when the wi-fi blocks out.

Wi -Fi usage in my laptop

Try a third time (every time I go into my own network places for netgear I loose this fixya page -sorry watch for duplication).

Go into "start menu" then click on "my network places" then click on anything that says "netgear router" if its there, click on this and it should bring you to your password for netgear, click this with your password and this should bring you to your main page of your Netgear Router software programing.
Click on "connection status" if it says "success" under "negotiation" then its working OK. If you don't get "succes" then you have problems and I recommend you ring the Netgear service number written in your instruction papers in your old modem/router box they are usually based in Malaysia and very helpful.
Best wishes,
