Computer would not boot up, only showed red light

Turned on cisnet 80 gig computer and would not turn completely on, green light flashed for a couple seconds then red light stayed on. Opened cpu and fan was lose, reconnected and still would not work. Repair store thought that it was processor or short in mother board. Any answers? If I purchase an external hard drive case, what size would it be. my sister gave me cisnet with out a moniter but i hooked up a dell moniter, and the moniter light is on but its orange. the cisnet is running what could be the problem could it bve the video card

    Hi there, sorry about drumbanger!!!
Have a look behind the PC, look to see how many graphics ports there are, are they VGA or DVI? this is what the monitors connect to

"Green light flashed for a couple of seconds then red light stayed on">>>power supply is bad

By an external hard drive>>>160GB they are cheap

video card check drivers>start>right click my computer>hardware tab>Device Manager>find video card, right click on it then up date driver.
Let me know if you have any questions.

I'd say power supply first.

If you have an expansion slot filled with a video card, remove the video card (provided you have onboard video connector as well) then try to reboot. I just went through similar issues with an GForce video card, it went bad, but the machine appeared to boot althugh I couldn't see the screen. Removed the card & it came up using minimal VGA drivers provide with WinXP.

Obviously you cannot check the video driver if you're not booting up...and seeing the screen.

Find a buddy with a regular monitor and hook it up and try to boot. Dell monitors sometimes require their propietary drivers, so write down the model when you take your pc to a friend's place, and DL the driver and install it (provided you got it to boot up)

Will not start up

hi , Reuben

I would suggest you try safe mode.
Safe mode is a troubleshooting option for Windows that starts your computer in a limited state. Only the basic files and drivers necessary to run Windows are started. The words "Safe Mode" appear in the corners of the display to identify which Windows mode you are using. If an existing problem does not reappear when you start in safe mode, you can eliminate the default settings and basic device drivers as possible causes.
If you don't know the cause of the problem, you can use the process of elimination to help you find the problem. Try starting all of the programs you commonly use, including the programs in your Startup folder, one by one, to see if a program might be the cause of the problem.
Follow the steps to boot the computer in safe mode with networking:
1. Restart your computer if it is powered on.
2. Tap the F8 key after your computer initially powers on.
3. Once you see the Advanced Boot Options menu you can stop tapping.
4. Use the up/down arrow keys to highlight your selection.
5. Select Safe Mode with Networking and press Enter.
6. You should see drivers loading, and then please wait.
7. You should then be at the Welcome Screen.
8. Logon to your computer using an account with Administrator privileges.

What software should I use to bypass my university internet restrictions?

If the games are in fact, "yours" then you can configure your game server to publish on the normal HTTP port (80). Then, you will have no trouble at all.

I hope this is helpful,

How do i turn off the HDD

What happens when entering the sleep mode is the drives will be turned off and the present state will be kept in memory until awakened. While the system is active the power scheme will prevent the drives from idling down after so many minutes with the never turn off setting applied.

With the turn off drives after the default 20minutes of inactivity that doesn't mean all drives turn off at the exact same time. I've never come across any reference for changing the power plan option for individual drives. But I can point you at the guide for the power plan settings with one instruction on drive settings to apply prior to entering the sleep mode.

hope that helps if not let someone here know.

Ibm thinkpad 2374 manuals

Does it actually have a wireless network adapter? Check the network adapter settings. Does it show both LAN and wireless? If it does you may need to use one of the Function keys to launch the interface to turn on the wireless.
