The noise is comming from the counter balance spring and rope system. You will need to pull the unit out from the counter and then you will see the springs. You will have one on each side near the bottom of the floor. Sometimes a lil grease or PAM spray will quiet them down.

Good Luck!

How to fix a squeaky dishwasher door

You may need to slide the dishwasher out slightly. On both sides at the floor level are the door springs, pulley, and cables. The cable is usually attached to the door hinge--then goes around the pulley wheel and goes back to the spring system. Most noise comes from the hinge pivot point or the pulley axle. You can spray all those parts with something like WD40 or if you don't like that smell try a silicone spray. Do both sides and work the door up and down.

Why does my dishwasher not close

Sounds like my daughter and her kids sitting on the door when its down. When lifted into position the latch no longer matches the"catch" It might require a little ingenuity to bend the door hinges back. it definitely sounds mechanical. Even a pro wouldn't let you watch how he bends that back. worse case scenario bite the bullet, call service tech, pay for labor AND parts (hinges or latch/catch) thinking again some of the older models (like cars) the latch is engaged and is waiting/depending on the opening of the door to change it's position. trying to shut it and a hard metal on metal clunck! might indicate a closed latch and not bent hinges... Good luck and give Fixya a bit of feed back~~~hope this helps---> S

My KitchenAid Dishwasher door won't stay closed. It keeps popping open after a few seconds.

I experienced the same problem after my tension cables broke. The door fell open with such force that it bent the hinges a little. If you've replaced the tension strings (which you should do every 5-8 years) then you don't have to replace the latch. I did and it didn't solve the problem.
Here's the solution:
Put a towel at the bottom of each side of the door by the hinge.
Push the door closed a couple of times to bend back the hinges.
Remove the towels and you're back in action.
Good luck

Liberally lubricate hinges, spring and any other relavant parts with WD-40.

Very loud screetch when you open and close the door.

This can be difficult to correst. The door hinge attaches to a lever, connested to a length of cord, connected to a spring. Tight installations can sometimes cause insulation to get scrunched next to all than mechanism. The minimum space to install is 24x24x34, front to back, side to side. more is actually a little better ( are you listening, builders?) High end dishwashers have thicker insulation and it is harder to squeeze it into its space. The insulation tends to catch on every splinter, screw tip, etc. You may have to pull the dishwasher and grease up the hinge and check that all insulation is away from the mechanism. Hope this helps,

The soap dispenser will not open during wash cycle. what do i do?

Your appears to be a spring loaded hinge. Look on the hinge pin to see the spring. There should be tension on the door when you try to close it.

LG Model LD-14AW2 - loud bang and door dropped open as if a door hinge or spring snapped. Are both sides of door normally supported. Are parts available to repair. Where do I get a manual. Colin

Hello- Parts are available locally at app. parts store. Need complete model #. Usually have to pull out unit to install. Replace both sides. There will be a spring, sometimes with a cord to pull door up. Either part can break, so get both. Not easy, but you can save a bit by doin it yourself. Hope this helps. -Thanks- ED

Kitchenaid DW Door is very squeaky and loud

most likely the hinges are partially rusted through. resulting in all of those sounds. i doubt that you could get anyone to replace the hinges for less money that the cost of a new dishwasher so I recommend replacement.

Difficult to pull door open and loud click coming from left hinge

I would check for obstruction in the path of the door spring areas. If appropriate, remove the bottom access panel (typically 2 screws); open/close the door in attempt to observe the inside bottom left and right for the clicking sound.

If not already done so, also ensure your dish-washer is raised of the floor a little bit; leveled and properly secured to counter top with 2 screws.
