Need remote for RDR-VX500. Have 2 remotes that might be made to w
I have a DVD sony recorder model RDR-VX500 which came without a remote control (clearance sale). I have 2 remotes from sony: 1) RMT-D224A for a newer DVD recorder and 2) a universal remote RM-V402. Although I would prefer to use the first remote, is there any way I can use either for the RDR-VX500? Thanks for any help!

You may have to reset the remote to the current command code. Here is the link for how to do that. http://community.sony.com/t5/Remote-Controls/RDR-VX525-Changed-to-DVD3-on-command-control-and-remote-won-t/td-p/158777
while pressing 'ENTER' on your remote, press and hold down the number '3' key for approx 4 seconds and then it should work. the same process goes for 'DVD 1' and 'DVD 2' depending on the remote setting on the recorder. there is no need to point the remote at the recorder when doing the above as it is only the remote itself that is being programmed.
Problem was solved by Holding down the "ENTER" button for no less than 10 seconds and after releasing it press "SYSTEM MENU". This will take you to the setup screen on your TV.
where all settings can be made from there by following the on screen directions.
I did the same thing and lost all remote control to the recorder. Try holding ENTER & 3 in unison for as long as it takes (30 secs or more ) to view change on TV screen. This should get u back to system menu where u can change back to dvd 3 (default ) If doesn't work get a one for all remote and enter code 0533 which will get u in to the recorder command lines. PS enter & 3 worked 4 me.
