Question about Kenmore 12502 Top Load Washer

Water still in bottom of tub after drain/spin cycle

Sears Kenmore Type 111 Top Load Washer - after drain & spin cycles, there is still water in the bottom of the tub and we have a significant amount of water pooled on the floor under the washer. I can hear the water draining thru the hose so the pump is working. I think something (a sock or something small) may be blocking the drain but I can't figure out how to get into the tub area to check. Thanks!

Sorry - can't figure out how to respond to update original request! Washer type is topload Kenmore Type 111 Model 110-26682500 s/n CS2601667. What's happening is not all of the water seems to be draining at the end of either the wash or rinse cycle (the pump runs). There's a lot of water that runs out of the bottom somewhere & ends up on the floor. At the end of the complete cycle, I can also still hear water sloshing around in the bottom of the machine. This occurs occasionally so I'm thinking there's something clogging the drain so it's not emptying all of the water. Thanks.

I removed the drain hose from the bottom left rear corner of the washer & cleaned a large amount of gooey sludge from the bottom of the drain inside the washing machine.

Washer sticks on wash cycle; runs continuosly on spin cycle

That sounds like you have one of them fancy water saving outfits with a diverter valve that dumps the pump water continuosly over the clothes. Weirdest washer I ever saw. Could be the solenoid that opens the drain pump has failed. Don't know too much about em but I do have the service manual. Post your model number for a more precise answer. I have a Kenmore Top Load Washer and when it goes into spin cycle the clothes are still soggy when the the cycle is complete. I can hear and see the spin cycle working but it seems to be not strong enough...

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Enter your model number (###.######) and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

Initial thoughts point to two possibilities.

1. There is some type of blockage in either the hoses to or from the pump or the pump itself.

See the following for how to access the pump and check it.

http://www.american-appliance.com/catalog/newsdesk_info.php?newsPath=16&newsdesk_id=134

2. The clutch linings are excessively worn. If they are too worn, the transmission cannot provide full power to the tub for spinning.

Following is a description of how to access the transmission and clutch.

http://www.american-appliance.com/catalog/newsdesk_info.php?newsPath=16&newsdesk_id=137

If the clutch linings are shot, Sears (and Whirlpool) have replacement kits for the clutch lining. You don't have to buy a complete clutch.

Water drains during spin cycle, but tub does not spin and appears to have dropped down. Machine does aggitate.

If you can move the tub by hand laterally - the rear main bearing has likely failed - or the drum rollers are worn.

Type 111 filled with water and stopped

with the machine off, turn the cycle dial around 3x very harshly, then try it again. If it works normally now, you'll need a new cycle switch soon!

Kenmore 22062 will not cycle correctly

Problem fixed. I took apart the bottom of the washer to access the pump, and found that there was underwire from bras stuck in the discharge tube blocking the water from exiting the washer and that was causing the cycle problem. I guess that the washer knew that there was too much water in the tub and kept trying to expel it.

Washer fills/agitates and stops prior to draining

If pump works fine or still pumps out water, then it is a timer malfunction. Replace the timer and you should be fine. To locate a part number for your timer, refer to www3.sears.com with the model number off your washer.
