Question about Panasonic PT-50LC13 50" Rear Projection HDTV

1 Answer

Sound but no picture I don't think it is the lamp as the other displays seem to work (i.e. set up, adjusting picture, video and the notations in the top corner indicating RGD, Video, Component, etc.) I have a YouTube video which shows what happens when I turn on the set.

Well, If you see on-screen display and Menu on TV screen that shows problem is with connections wires of DVD Player etc. Also check Cable connector at rear of TV.
One more trick it to unplug TV from AC outlet for couple of minutes and replug back in and power it up. Hope this will fix TV problem.

The color is distorted and the picture blinks. I've replaced the lamp twice before and i don't think this is a lamp problem.

Projection sets have two very common problems.

The first common problem is convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

My dlp tv seems to be dimming.. Is that the lamp

it does sound like your lamp is going out. this happens after 2.5-5 years depending on the tv and amount of use. You can find cheap replacments and sometimes can get them a discount if you buy 2.

comment if you need sites or info on replaments

Picture is dark

Adjust video settings:
  1. Press Wega Gate
  2. Select Settings
  3. Highlight Video
  4. Press + to select
  5. Adjust/increase the brightness.
  6. Press Wega gate to exit.
If picture is still dark, you need to replace the lamp again. Sony recommends that you replace the lamp:
  1. After approximately 8,000 hours of use.
  2. When the screen becomes dark or the color becomes unusual.
  3. When the lamp indicator on the front of the TV flashes.

PT 50LC13. Sound but no picture

Unplug the set fro about a minute or two and see if that clears the error. If you are using a surround amp that yoir video sources pass through before it gets to the tv then make sure that is set to the right input and working properly and finally make sure the source providing the signal is working. If all is good then you have an issue on your main board where the video switching is processed.

Black screen with a Blinking lamp in the front

Hi..if your lamp is on but no picture, then your lamp is good. Your problem is the DMD board (digital mirror display board) is bad. This is very common with Samsung DLP.

if you get a blue screen than your lamp is working fine. blue screen is considered "video mute" it display that blue if the tv thinks there is no video. try to reset the tv by pressing - menu 123 then reset to system defaults.
