Error message "ink absorber is full", how do I solve this?

When I try to print something on my Canon IP1600 an error message comes up on my computer "ink absorber is full". Local computer shops don't know how to solve this problem. The Canon Office is no help at all!!

Suport code 1702 pxma i cant print

Hi Rolando,
This error relates to the ink absorber being almost full. You should be able to press ok and continue (unless you've already done that in which case, the ink absorber is probably full). http://canontechsupports.blogspot.com.es/2014/09/how-to-fix-error-1702170317041715e08-in.html

Ink absorber

actually ink absorber is full means you printer inside got small pieces towel
to absorb ink. but Canon PIXMA printers display an error when a certain internal counter suggests that the ink absorber may be full. If you've done a lot of printing, the ink absorber may actually be full and you might need to have it cleaned or replaced to ensure the best printing quality. However, if you haven't printed that much or you have and you just need to print something right this minute, there is a way to reset the counter and stop the error from showing up again

please try go to this website :
http://ij-forum.blogspot.com/2008/09/how-to-reset-ink-level-of-fine.html
the you go left hand side download General Tools (EEPROM Resetter) Collection and install on you cpu.

after download remember to turn on printer before install it.then go to Reset ink counter by clicking Reset main on waste ink counter menu

try this if can't i think you need send to shop for technician to open it and clearning for you....

I have cleaned the waste ink resavoir but I keep getting the message that it is almost full. How can I reset it?

HI ...

This printer has an ink absorber that takes in ink during the printing and print head cleaning processes. The cleaning process is necessary in order to keep the print head nozzles from becoming clogged. Over the life of the printer, the amount of ink that the ink absorber has absorbed is calculated by the printer. Eventually, after substantial use, the printer will enter an error condition when the ink absorber is nearly full. At this point, printing is still possible by pressing the <Resume> button on the printer. To protect the printer from damage, you will not be able to print at all once the ink absorber is full.
Canon recommends having the printer serviced before the absorber becomes full. We are aware that there are many "do-it-yourself" Web sites that offer instructions for making this repair. Replacing the ink absorber is a complicated and potentially messy procedure. Even if the ink absorber is successfully changed, the ink absorber counter must be reset. Be aware that if you attempt this procedure, it is at your own risk.

Please vote if this helps .... cheers :)

Canon ip1600 wastes ink

Most likely you have a full waste ink absorber. The link is at the below location, but you will have to type in "waste ink" (without quotes). Since Canon links brings up generic pages, I have reproduced their instructions for you below the link. If you choose to take on this procedure yourself (which is against their advice), they will not provide the procedure.

I would also suggest that you see if it makes sense to you that it would be full and require replacement; in other words, have you had substantial use yet? If not, on that same page, you will see an indication that the printer may need repair as well.
