if I change the dec mode on the hdx575 to PLII movie, I get sound out of the front, center and sub, but I can't get any sound from the rear speakers. All speakers work fine when playing a DVD

Just purchased DAV-HD576WF; front, center & woofer work, but surround speakers and S-AIR receiver speaker sin't working. We are able to control DVD & iPod from S-Air receiver, but are getting no sound at all. When we run the set up...it shows "Surround Speakers NONE" (Meaning, they're not hooked up properly...but they are!!)

    Any help or advice...much appreciated.

Same problem. Front side speakers and Woofer work, center speaker does not work, rear speakers do not work. Screen menu does not work. Instructions are poor.

This might be happening because the audio format for surround is not supported by the channel or affiliate of the channel that you are viewing does this happen on all tv channels or is it on just a few? if all sound while playing a dvd is proper and in working order than there must be an issue with the sound and or format of sound from the tv source. maybe more information would help me decipher this

anyways hope it helps

I have a coby CSP96 speaker system. it said on the manual online that i found on the cobyusa.com site that there should be a volume control on top of the sub-woofer but there isn't one there. i can only...

I am having the same problem. I also have the combo dvd and theater system. I also read that the sub woofer is supposed to have a volume control on it but its not there. The only way to control volume is to connect to coby dvd player. This dvd player is beyond terrible. DVD looks bad and sound is miserable. I hooked up xbox 360 to my samsung 52 inch, then on the outputs of my tv into the inputs of the "TV" section on the Coby Sub woofer. At this point great sound quality comes from the xbox and all speakers, but the volume is uncontrollable and is blasting loud. Tv volume control does not work either. I am stuck like chuck and have not found a solution. This has to be one of the worse purchased i have ever made because i am forced to use a terrible DVD player just to get some sound through the speakers. I dont understand why on the speaker systems you buy without dvd combo has a volume control on subwoofer, but on the combo subwoofer doesnt have it. Just terrible. I will continue to look online and try and find a solution other than smash it to bits.

Hi I have the Sony DAV-HDX285 home theatre system and I'm trying to get it to work with my Vizio 47" HD tv. I go thru the speaker setup with the dvd supplied and all speakers are working tthu the home...

I assume you mean the TV sound only comes out of the TV. THAT would involve internal audio controls at the TV.

Why don't you just connect the TV-related audio directly from each source to the DAV instead of through the TV, which adds NOTHING to the sound quality and may even degrade or limit it.

I can't get bass thru the spkrs

So when you aren't using the sub woofer there's not enough bass, so you need more out of the other speakers. Chances are the front speakers are set to "small" in the receivers menu, change it to "large"if your front speakers have a 6 inch woofer or larger. Note: If you leave the sub on, the input signal to it will be greatly reduced when the speakers are set to "large". Hope this helps.

SA-AX720 no subwoofer signal?

THIS UNIT HAS NO SUB WOOFER AMP IN IT. THE ONLY WAY TO OVER COME THIS IS TO HOOK THE LEFT AND RIGHT FRONT SPEAKERS STRAIGHT TO THE SUB WOOFER AND THEN GO FROM THE SUB WOOFER BACK TO THE INPUTS ON THE BACK OF THE UNIT FOR THE FRONT SPEAKERS. THE SUB WOOFER THIS WAY WILL EXTRACT THE BASS AND THE FRONT WILL RECEIVE THEIR PART. THIS SOUNDS CRAZY AS HELL I KNOW BUT THAT'S HOW I GOT MINE TO WORK. THE OUTPUT FOR THE SUBWOOFER IS USELESS AND PUT THERE FOR YOU TO HOOK UP AN AMP FOR A SUB WOOFER. EVERYTHING HAS SHORT COMINGS, AND THAT'S THE ONE FOR THE AX-720.

Can't get the surround sound to play the rear speakers and small front speaker

Sounds like it's just in 2 channel stereo mode, only 2 speakers working out of 5 and a sub, look for a selector switch for switching to 5.1 surround, as far as the no video problem try replacing the cable for the video connection.
