i have the same problem! i have samsung 42 inch plasma tv. i have been noticing a little jumping spider running across my tv screen. so i sprayed it and it didn't kill it. so i slapped it with a paper and it still didn't hurt it. so then i took a real close look and i discovered it's behind the tv screen! i can't imagine how to get him out. the tv is very big and heavy.

First remove the speaker panel, no screws, it just pulls off. Then remove 8 screws, you will note the 4 other screws that are not attached to the screen itself, do not remove those. Then pull out a little from the bottom, not too much or you will break the screen then pull up. When I did it the left side came loose right away, but then I had to use a screw driver to pry out the right hand side. The sides are actually in a simple pressure slide, a little prying with the screw driver loosen up the sides. When you put it back together, you put the top rail in first, press in the sides and replace the screws. Job done and you saved yourself a lot of bucks.

Take the front speaker grill, and ther will be a few screws on the bottom of the screen. Remove those and lift the screen up and out.

Scratched plastic screen protector

I have a rear projection TV that I thought had a scratch as well. Upon closer examination and several attempts to clean, I discovered that there was a spider web behind the screan in front of the color projectors. I carefully removed the screen and gently cleaned the spider web from the screen. Presto no more scratches.

Hope this is a viable solution for you as well.

sometimes on sony TV's on the sides you will have a door, that you can open with a screwdriver. if yours have it you might be able to dlean all that web from both sides, if not its a little bit more complex.

How do I dust inside the screen of a Rear projection TV?

Unplug tv first Usually you can pop the front screen off the set. There may be two hidden catches depending on the model. You may want to use two people for this. Once the screen is off removed the spider web and clean the back mirror with some windex, don't clean the inside of screen with any cleaner. Replace carefully the screen making sure it clicks back correctly

Hitachi 51UWX20B spider web like lines help

I know my response is a while after you asked, but to clean the inside of the tv case is pretty simple.

Remove the bottom speaker cover...on this model you just pull it off. There is no clips or screws.

Once the speaker cover is off you will see the bottom of the screen, there is 4-5 screws on the bottom on each side....I think 4 in the gray plastic and 1 in a black metal strap. With all of those screws out pull out SLIGHTLY on the screen and push up. The top is held in with a down force clamp and you are just popping it out of that....It will pop back in once you are done.

Now clean the back side of the screen, the mirror and CAREFULLY dust off the lenses. I myself did not want to use any cleaners (to avoid streaking) so I used a new microfiber dusting cloth. My picture became brighter and the "crack" that I thought I had was just a dust web....

Hope this helps and good luck

Looks like dust behind front glass on phillips 46pp8621

The only way to remove the dust and or spider webs from that area is to remove the front bezel assembly and separate the protection screen, it's better to leave a svc. co. do this because the two screens behind that are very expensive. Hope this helps..

Dirty screen but it is behind the outside screen.

The front screen with the frame does remove from the cabinet giving you access to the mirror and CRT lens. Remove the speaker grill, remove the four screws on the bottom of the frame, then working underneath a corner proceed to pop the rivets holding the frame to the cabinet. It will seem impossible at first because you have to use a lot of force to pop each one out. When reinstalling,a rubber mallet may help popping each rivet back in (I am not kidding when I say they are tight)

Spiderwebs under Screen, how do i clean it ?

Yes, I have seen this many times. Usually the best way is to remove the upper back cover and clean out the spider webs with a soft, dry cloth, but be careful because the mirror is mounted to the inside of the cover.
