Question about 1995-1997 Chevy Suburban Ignition Starter Alarm switch

Installing a new radio

I removed my stocked radio, from my 2001 Suburban, and connected the power connects and the radio turns. But the rest of the wires color code doesn't match the manual. I may have messed things up by removing the wire harness.
I know the radio works because I connected the radio speaker wires to a small house speaker and I got sound, but when I connect the radio speaker wires the the car I get no sound.
The wires I have left are:
2- light freen
2-dark green
Can anyone help me out, I would extremely appreciate it. Thanks

First of all u need a test light hook one end to ground check for positive power with the other end of the test light. One of the wires comming from the vehicle will show power with ignition on and light switch on this is dimmer wire for speaker location get a nine volt battery put two wires to it {not your power or ground wires} you should hear a buzzing noise this would tell you speaker location .

1979. Where can I get a diagram that identifies the five wires connected to the rear of the stock radio?

1. I got mine from the radio manufacturers wed site.
I googled ford stock autolite radio connections 1974.
This may help. Red fused power
Black good grounds
blue RT or LT +
Green RT or Lt + (Could be Yellow}
Blue and Green you will have to experiment which is LT and RT
Black or Black w/ white strip Once you hook up red and black you can test for the rest

Hope this helps Mike

Insructions on how to install a radio in a 2001 murcury mountaineer

You need special tools to remove the stock radio. Looks like an allen wrench bent into a U shape. Fits into the two holes on both sides of the front of the radio. Then its just a matter of connecting the new radio to old harness. Easier if you have an adapter from Crutchfield or another company.

How do I connect the speaker wire

I'd like to help, but your description of the problem is very vague. Have you hooked all other wires, power, etc., , but you need to hook up one or all speaker wires? Did this unit replace the stock radio in your vehicle? There are plug adapters which are vehicle specific. These adapters connect the plug from the stock radio to the new component. What vehicle, make and model, are you installing this unit in.

Replace subwoofer 2001 chevrolet suburban

Should be a standard 8" sub, located in the passenger rear side. Remove the plastic interior body panel, the sub will be located behind. Remove the 6-or-so screws holding it in, disconnect the wires, making note of which wire connected to which terminal. Connect the wires to the new subwoofer, replace screws in new sub. Test the audio system to make sure everything is working properly, and re-install the plastic interior cover panel.

Out of curiousity did you check your fuse? In installing one a while ago I created a short and had no power a simple fuse replacement and all was good?

The other one is if you made cuts in the wire did you make sure the right connections were made?

May seem simple and if you already checked apologies for mentioning it however, I have found sometimes that we pass the simple solutions trying to make it more complicated than what it is.

How do i connect a kenwood amp to my 2003 bmw m3 with a stock hk system and head unit? i just need to kno where to connect the amp to the car radio

You will need to connect your speaker outputs from the head unit to the high power inputs on the amplifier. If the amp only has low power inputs(rca jacks) then you will need to get a device that lowers the output signal from the radio so the amp can be connected. The red wire will go to the switched power. The yellow will go to constant power. Black goes to ground. Now the blue wire is the signal the amp gets from the stereo to turn on. Your stock stereo will probably not have this ability so you will have to hook that wire to the switched power. Your amp will come on whenever the key is on...even if the stereo is off. If your stock stereo has a wire that sends out a power signal when it is turned on you could try that for the blue wire. Just make sure you have the negative battery cable on the car disconnected so you don't short out your vehicle's electrical system while installing the amp.

No sound from speakers

did you check to make sure your vehicle didnt come with a factory amp, if it has one is it turning on? or did you remember to disconnect the negative battery cable while installing your radio, i know thats a dumb question, once i was installing a pioneer a barely crossed a couple wires and fried the radio, the radio itself worked fine and all the features etc, but it never did play sound again. i always disconnect the power now!!
