I notice that in the 7/7/05 post by Urp entitled "How to make ActiveSync synchronise WAV recordings", he/she mentions editing the PPC registry. I can't even find the registry in my PPC (Dell Axim X30). How do I find it & what executable is available to edit the registry? -- Thank you in advance.
Hi Clinton: Thanks so much for your reply. It took all of 20 seconds to do a full backup to my desktop. I never thought of looking in the Active Sync menus on my desktop...only on the PPC.<g -- Thanks again. I appreciate your time.

Phil,
Absolutely it is possible to back up to the desktop. The easiest way to do this is via ActiveSync using the Backup/Restore function. This is what I use every Friday to back up my device and I've never had a problem backing up or restoring.
Just be sure when you use this feature to do a "full backup" the first time (or everytime... it doesn't take that long).

Hi Clinton: Thanks for the references. The second one looks decent, and I don't plan to do too much editing (while I've probably edited the registry on my desktop a few hundred times, I'm new to PPCs.:-)
I saw your advice on backing up my device. I noticed that the options on my Dell Axim X30 allowed backing up Data only, not the whole system. I also couldn't find an option to back up to my desktop. As my built-in storage is only 32MB & I use my 1 GB storage card for maps, do you know if it's possible to back the entire system up to my desktop (& then restore via Active Sync, if necessary)? -- Thanks again. I appreciate your time.

Phil,
You will need to have a registry editor application to get into the registry.
For most tweaks, I would highly recommend Tweaks2K2. It is easy to use and is a lot less "dangerous" than editing the raw file. Go to # for more information.
For a free true registry editor, check out PHM Registry Editor at #.
Be sure to back up your device before you start tweaking... just in case ;-)
