Problems with Tag Heuer 2000 Classic WK1120.BB0314

Hi, about a month ago, the watch stopped, and the seconds hand started to move backwards and forwards. I was told that Tag's do this to indicate that the battery needs replacing. When I took it to the shop to get a replacement battery fitted, they said that there was a problem with the ELO or something similar to this. they didn't replace the battery as they said the problem needs to be fixed first. The shop wasn't a Tag specialist, and they couldn't say with 100% certainty that this was the problem, more of a guess really. Does anyone have an experience similar to this or suggest any recommendations? Does anyone know a DIY method to remove the back? Many thanks for reading this!

I have recently noted that the seconds hand moves every 4 seconds (.i.e stops for 4 seconds and then moves again to the next four seconds i.e if it stopped at 12:05:04 it will go to 12:05:08). Time is correct.
Can you please advise what is the problem?
    Does it need battery replacement?

Explanation is simple: your watch has jammed geartrain or some dirt particles stuck into geartrain. This is why the seconds hand was moving backwards and forwards.
Nothing to do with EOL (End Of Life) feature wich is built into watch microelectronics and signals that this is the time to replace battery by advancing seconds hand two or four seconds at once.
To open the watch you need a proper watch caseback opening tool, but I can't see any reason for doing that as you will not be able to fix the geartrain problem without proper knowledge and skills.
If the warranty of the watch is expired, you don't need a TAG specialist as you will be charged for job anyway. So, find your nearest watchmaker shop and ask for repair.
Do not forget to rate, please.

How to synchronize Tag Heuer CAN1011.BA0821?

Unscrew the crown, start the stop watch on the time signal. Stop the second hand at 12 o'clock and reset the time (taking out the back lash on the minute hand) Start the watch as the stop watch second hand hits 12. Screw down the crown. Done.

I accidentally stepped on my Tag Heuer TWWK1120.BB0314 bracelet now the clasp doesn't click and lock. Do I need to replace the whole bracelet or just the clasp.

Has it broken, or just been bent out of shape??? If it is just bent you could possibly take it to a TAG repairer or a watch maker to get it adjusted

Tag Heuer 2000 Automatic not moving

Hi,

Sounds like your watch is in need of service. All watches need to be maintained and regular service is required. A watch is a tiny machine. So if you think about it a car needs regular maintenance to keep it running and so will any machine.

In a watch the oils dry out after about 3-5 years and they stop lubricating. Just like in a car when the oils stop lubricating the engine will stop, a watch will stop.

The reasons for this are 1) no lubrication means high friction on the moving parts. 2) the dried oils become gummy like glue and hold the gear train in place which keep the gears from moving.

The only answer is to have your watch serviced to get rid of the old lubrication, clean and replace any worn parts, then reassemble and lubricate, and finally adjust the timing.

This is something only a watchmaker should do as the parts in your watch are very small and very fragile. Improper handling can permanently damage the parts.

Hope this helps,

I cant set the time.

sounds like the crown stem may have snapped. Same happened to me and it had to be replaced at a cost of NZD$300. Have you bumped the watch or maybe tighted the stem too tight?

Second hand stops for a few seconds and then starts again over and over again

Try manually winding it (assuming it's not a quartz watch). If a mechanical watch is not worn daily it will run down and need to be manually wound to get going. Turn the crown clockwise about 40 turns.

Where can I purchase bb0316 links for women's tag heuer band?

Hi,

If your watch is older than 4 years you can't buy links unless you get real lucky and find a watchmaker that happens to have some on hand.

Swatch sold Tag Heuer about 4 years ago to Louis Vitton. LVMH did not purchase the parts for watches made prior to the sale of the company. So all those parts are no longer available.

If your watch is less than 4 years old you can contact Tag Heuer directly for the links.

Hope this helps,

The small seconds hand do not stop because it has nothing to do with chronometer. It is ordinary seconds counter and will move independent of chronometer.Click on my profile (escapement), then click on Tips and Tricks. There you will find link to Tag Heuer watch manuals. I have lost the connecting pin link on my watch which connects the watch to actual strap, where can i buy a new one

This is most likely a metal band and the part you are talking about is the head piece. I do not know of any outlets that sale the head piece by itself. You will most likely have to buy a replacement band either from the watch manufacturer or an after market watch band supplier like Speidel.

Watch second hand

I had the same problem with my Tag. Same 4 second jump. It's definitely the battery. I'm surprised at only 3 months, but maybe it sat a while in the display case. Mine was over a year and a half.
