My error message says "A GPS-signal is not available now...."
The entire message reads "A GPS-signal is not available now. navigation will start automatically when a GPS-signal is available." I do not understand how this is possible. My husband has a different brand GPS and he can get a GPS inside our house. He has even taken the FineDrive 350 outside but still gets the same message. What am I doing wrong (other than possibly making a mistake by buying this GPS)?

Google maps starts sound when ur in navigation mode.
Open the Google Maps app .
Search for a place or tap it on the map.
In the bottom right, tap Directions . If you touch and hold the button instead, you'll start navigation and can skip steps 4-6.
Optional: To add additional destinations, go to the top right and tap More Add stop. You can add up to 9 stops. When you are finished, tap Done.
Choose one of the following:
If other routes are available, they will be shown in gray on the map. To follow an alternate route, tap the gray line.
To start navigation, tap Navigate . If you see "Searching for GPS," your phone is trying to get a GPS signal. For example, you might be in or near a tunnel, parking garage, or other location where there's no GPS signal.
To stop or cancel navigation, go to the bottom right and tap Exit.

I would think that it would give a signal error if it was getting no signal, my best bet would be to call Magellan and possibly send it in if they can't give you any support over the phone because I haven't seen this problem before. It probably is an internal problem by the sounds of it. Might need a new one, hopefully you have a warranty on it. Here is the contact info

Since the operating system and navigation software are preloaded into
the internal flash memory of the GPS, the freezing may either be
software or hardware failure. First, press the "Reset" button or push
the stylus into the "Reset" hole, to see if the navigation software can
load successfully. If the program still does not load, then the
software may be corrupted. Also, if the internal memory fails to read
or write and the software cannot load properly, it may be caused by
hardware failure. In either case, please return the unit for exchange
or repair to the retail location from which you purchased it, or contact

On most gps's that means it is time to reset the unit. This should force it to reload the sattilite catalog information and it should start working. Depending on the unit it can take up to an hour before it it works after rebooting while other new ones do it in a few miutes at most.
I believe this unit has a reset hole on the back so just insert somethign like a toothpick and reset it. Then place it where it can get a signal and let it do its thing. Should behave after that.
You hopefully have the mobile navigator software CD that came with the GPS unit. Copy the entire folder and contents of the CD to your SD card (make sure you make a full backup copy of the exisiting software on the SD card first).
I have an older one of these with the AV connections. once in a while it does not see GPS signals. If I exit navigation and from the main menu select setup, I can reset the GPS and then go back into navigation, this seems to cure the issue but it may return. I think the root cause is a low memory battery in the unit.

You deleted your previous maps, therefore there are no maps on the unit. Try reloading the maps again and this time let it continue all the way to the end. It will take a couple of hours depending on loading all maps or only certain states.
