Your freezer may be set to low causing the water tank to freeze. i would raise the temp a bit to thaw out the tank.

Why won't ice tray filling stop?

Michael, I suspect that the water solenoid valve needs replacement--that symptom usually causes either a slow leak and an overflowing ice cube tray or no water flow at all. To test the solenoid valve, slide your refrigerator out and view the back cover. There should be a double solenoid valve down near the bottom back of your refrigerator, one solenoid valve for the water serve spout on the front of the freezer door, and the other solenoid valve for the ice maker. I'd swap the clear plastic lines (to the door water spicket and the icemaker, put a plastic cup under the door water spicket and check in a few minutes for water leaking into your cup--if it does leak into the cup, you've found the problem! There are seval excellent videos on the web covering how to replace the valve, see: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/lg-water-inlet-valve-5221ja2006d-ap4445614.html

That solenoid is controlled by a cam driven switch built into the ice maker motor assembly which can occasionally go bad and need replacement or adjustment, but my experience points to a leaking dirt plugged-open water solenoid valve. Replacment solenoid valves are easy to replace at a cost ranging from $20 to $78 with free shipping to your doorstep--check ebay!

Water dispenser does not work, any time it is used water just drains out of bottom of freezer area onto floor. Ice cubes works

Hello Melissa;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

I am sorry to say you have a serious problem.

The water supply line to your ice maker runs up the back of your refrigerator from the ice maker solenoid. It is a separate water supply line.

Your water dispenser water line runs from the water dispenser solenoid under your unit and up from the bottom of you freeze door.

You have a plastic tubing leak within your freezer door. Calling a service company to replace the freezer door tubing - a good service technician would not replace the tubing - the damage has already been done.

The insulating material in your freezer door is soaked. The water in the door will cause the door liner to expand and crack. There is no way to completely dry out the insulating material.
The only fix is to replace the freezer door. So, $300.00+ for the door and $150.00+ for the service tech. No, a hair dryer will not do it.

May I suggest:
1.) Remove the bottom toe plate (Kicker plate) in the front of your refrigerator.
2.) Turn the leveling screws counter clockwise so you can pull the refrigerator out to get behind it.
3.) Unplug the unit.
4.) Remove the screws from the bottom cover.
5.) There are two connectors to the solenoid valve to the water dispenser. It is the larger diameter tubing running under your refrigerator.
This will disable your water dispenser. If you see cracks on the inside of your freezer door, seal them with a high temperature silicone adhesive.

If you elect to purchase a new unit, check out Sears Outlet (Scratch & Dent) Stores.

Hi i have installed my american fridge freezer DAEWOO FRAQ19DCB but the ice cube maker don't seem to be working. There is not even any water going in to the ice cube tray but there is water going to t

The inlet water supply solenoid valve has two coils and valves. The icemaker valve is not functioning either electrically or mechanically. Best bet is to replace the complete assembly.

The water has suddenly stopped coming out of the dispenser, what should I do?

First make sure that your refrigerator is getting water from the house. If it is getting to the water valve, which is a one in two out solenoid controlled water line, you need to disconnect the dispenser line and press on the dispenser switch to see if water is getting past the valve. If it isn't you will need to replace the solenoid controlled valve. If it is, then the next place you can check it is the connector just below the freezer door. It is is not getting past there, then you have someone blocking the line from the water walve through the chiller which doesn't happen often. When it does compressed air from the water valve will normally clear it. It you have water up to the freezer door then the most likely cause is in the dispenser switch.

Water is not coming out of water dispenser

Hi and welcome to FixYa,
There are 40 models under this main grouping: KSRG25FK I had to pick one....

KSRG25FKT05 as an example:

http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=504906

Listen for the micro switch item 14 this link:
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=504906&diagram_id=28177830#d28177830
You should hear a click as you actuate the water dispensor arm. (no click = bad switch)

Note also that the freezer door must be closed. Check the freezer door switch item 25 this link:
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=504906&diagram_id=28179767#d28179767 The light should go off when the plunger is depressed. If the light says on with the plunger depressed the switch has failed.
FYI you would have no ice in door if this switch has failed. If the ice in door works and there is only a water in door problem disregard this step.

Last open the fiberboard cover in the back of the unit and locate the inlet water valve. If you can do a swap of the 2 solenoid connectors between the 2 solenoids. Then use the water in door actuator. If you get water to the icemaker with the freezer door light switch plunger depressed you have a failed water in door solenoid on the inlet water valve. The water inlet valve is NOT repairable.

This is a KIT for replacing the inlet water valve:
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/part_details.aspx?part_id=3160649
You can find the valve cheaper without the kit parts if you shop around.

This is a Job Aid that will show you how to open the dispenser area if you need to.
http://applianceassistant.com/pdf/inDoorIceSystem.pdf Also good for ice maker and water in door troubleshooting.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

No Ice. Replaced 4 solenoid water inlet valves. Icemaker spins around, but no water comes up. Any ideas?? Bruce

Follow the water source line on the back of the refrigerator to the shutoffvalve on the water supply. Turn the shutoff valve counterclockwise to open itfully. Inspect the water source line for kinks. Straighten the line to removekinks.Confirm water flows to solenoid one end. And also check freezer door is closed as it will sense solenoid to open to water flow into ice maker. Sometimes, water flow might be plugged by frosting. Check freezer setting temp 5 degree. Thanks.

No water from the door.

Below the freezer door, behind the toe kick is a water line union disconnect it and hold the incoming line into a cup, have someone press the water button to see if the water is getting up to that point. If it is, then the water line is frozen inside the freezer door, and you will want to get a heater kit for the dispenser (small heater that attaches just below the water spout in the dispenser).
Good luck!

My refrigerator is not pumping water through the door. It is making ice properly. What would cause that? Thanks GE GSL25JFPR BS

If this is a newer fridge, less than 10 years old, the problem likely lies within the freezer door itself. Underneath the freezer door, behind the toe plate, is a water line union, either a screw in type, or blue, push-in type of connector, with 2 white collars on either end. push these collars toward each other while pulling the water line out of the connector..if its the screw in, simply unscrew it by hand. once you have it seperated, put the water line NOT coming out of the door into a bowl on the floor, and actuate the water lever, does the water fill up the bowl? Then your door's insulation has pockets of air, which over time build up with ice, and then freeze the water inside the door, preventing it from dispensing..

There is no fix for this, other than replacing your door, and i couldnt even tell you if the new door will solve the problem.

My advice, complain to GE.

Water dispenser doesn't work on ge hotpoint freezer

Here recently I have run into 2 of these units that do this and have found that the dispenser line is frozen in the freezer door. The way to test this is to remove the kick plate under the doors (It is easiest to open both doors to do this) Disconnect the union in the water line leading to the door by pushing in on the waterline and pulling in on the end of the fitting. When the line is apart, close the doors and push in on the paddle as to fill a cup with water. If you get water out of the line under the door then your line in your door is frozen and you will either need to replace your door or let the unit thaw for 24 hours with the doors open. Cheaper to thaw. If no water comes out under the door when paddle is pressed then you will need to replace the water valve as long as you have 120 volts at the valve when actuated.
