you mean all four speakers suddenly went bad? Also the normal sound came back after the radio was partially removed but still electrically connected.when it was thumped. It really cant be the speakers.

the reflex foam is located on the outer radius of each speaker. this is the squishy stuff that allows the speaker to move up and down freely.

Basically check the main lead wire, from battery (postive) the alternator, if it is touching the ground, body of the car. Possible if you can look at each and every wire going from battery to other source, if it is ***** or damaged. Starter of your car could be other problem, fuse box if corroded will also be part of this problem, if it is hard for you to configure this out, talk to the auto tech.

Got second hand radio for my car its a clarion CY460 for nissan almera hooked it up and displays please wait... after waiting for a moment it says SECURE can anyone give me help or advise on what to do....

Unfortunately, this unit has a code which you need to input before it will work, But you may have to go too Clarions support website and ask for this code, or maybe your local garage can help, but i think the charge for this code will be around £40.
Just check around the unit as sometimes it is stuck to it.

On the speaker wires for the stereo in a 1986 nissan maxima what is negitive and what is positive?

Normally, the POSITIVE speaker wire will have a white stripe on it. Also you can look on the speaker "lugs" where the wires connect and you should see a + and - next to each lug.

Very loud odd noise coming from radio speaker

There might be 2 probs
  1. The wires soldered to the the CD/FM input/output wires might have come loose leading to short/sparks causing the loud sound(constant).
  2. If there are any sockets requiring plug-in they may require cleaning with pure alcohol or rectified spirit(unlikely).
  3. The wire leads going to the speakers may be partially loose........................sodeep

Voice coils

Hello. I do speaker reconing and amp rebuilds for a living and the L7's often suffer from tinsel leed wire breakage which can cause "poping" and "screaching" noises in the sub in various cone positions. You need to remove the sub and push straight down on the cone repeatly and determine if you can feel or hear crunching noises to make sure the voice coil and/or spider are not damaged. A faulty leed wire can usually be identified by a dark spot or obvious breakage. All of the L5 and L7 models can be successfully repaired as long as they are the older models that have a center cap in the cone. The newer capless models will have to have an upper brace cap glued to all of the cone's fingers and will have a rather ugly appearance. Leed wire overhauls usually run around $30.00 for the older models. Voice coil and spider overhauls run around $90.00.

Sony XS-GT - Burrrrrrrr Noise

It's likely that the cone is damaged, which isn't repairable. However, another problem I've seen with Sony speakers comes when the tweeter pod becomes loose on its mount. To check this, look at the bottom of the speaker magnet. In the center of the back plate, there should be a small screw. It might be hiding under a sticker. Try tightening the screw, if possible.
