Question about NetGear WGT624 Wireless Router

Wireless router isn't connecting

I have had my router for several months and it has worked fine. Today it would not connect my laptop to the internet, the blue light on the front is gone. I restarted everything but it won't start up. The power light is on and the number 1 is lit up but the tower is blank and should be blue.

Have you attempted resetting the router? Turning off the power does not reset the router. To reset the router check for a small hole somewhere on the router which is just large enough to fit a paper-clip into. Once you find it unravel a paper-clip and stick it into the hole. It should reach a block, press down on the block (which is actually a button) and hold it down for about three-thirty seconds. This should reset your router.

WARNING: When you reset your router it is restored to factory default settings. Anything changed since then will be erased (except for firmware updates).

Cant connect ,no light on wireless connection. was

you need to setup the wireless connection if you havent already and your router needs to be a "wireless" router in order to create that type of internet connection. Have you laptop then scan for one which would be the one you just made and input the correct information to connect. If that doesn't work I'd suggest getting a new wireless router

Loose connection

  1. Update the Firmware on your router.
  2. When you lose internet, look on your modem and make sure that no lights have gone out. (i.e. Cable) If this one goes out, it is your provider.

Wireless connection works and then disconnects itself

look for a program on the web called Net Stumbler
It should be here
That will show the signal level from your router.
I have seen this before and it could be several different problems
1. Someone else on your channel
2. Burned out ant or output section in the router
3. Broken Ant wire in laptop

Hope this helps
