Acer 9300 bios upgrade failed

I downloaded the acer BIOS winflash to do BIOS upgrade on my acer 9300. now my 9300 won't start.

when power up, i saw two green flash on the hd symbol and a flash on the CD, then a pause and the flash repeat again.

Look like it's in a fail safe mode, and it's trying to detect anything in the cd for it to read.

Have anyone ran into this problem? and how did you solved it? Thanks in advance.

Tony

    Zerocool411,

Wow - THANK YOU for your post!! I was upgrading my Acer 9300 from XP to Vista and about half way through it said my BIOS was needed to be upgraded, so I went to the Acer support site and downloaded the newest BIOS, ran the install exactly as instructions, but when the system went into reboot, it would not restart. I was sure the BIOS upgrade went sour. Tried everything I could find online, but nothing worked. Then I found your post this morning and thought - I have 4GB RAM also - surely it couldn't be that simple??? Well, I reinstalled my old RAM modules, 512MB x 2 for the original 1GB of RAM, and presto - the system restarted like nothing was wrong! Now I have to figure out how to increase the memory over the 1GB for Vista.

    Thanks again!

I have the same problems, no boot or bios and black display, just power-light and HD light are on.
    Is the vga-inverter dead?

Hi!
I have the same problem, and my problem was that I have installed 4GB ram and that ram modules wasn't accepted with the new bios. So I installed the old modules and it all worked again, downgraded the bios to one version older and installed my 4GB ram modules and it all worked.

Hope that's your problem too.
Good luck

I have acer aspire 9300, the first time it went to black screen i tried all my posible means but i couldn't. then i gave it to my friend for try. he did it by heating the vga chip with a dryer followed by power up with the adopter then connect the battery 3x whiles the machine light is on. power off connect your battery, note: when it happens again remove the battery and power on with the adapter if not 1. power on without ram and battery then 2. connect ram and power on; All is well for u

Acer won't boot

Just go to the acer website and http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_one_150.html and d/load the bios update 3309, open the folder and copy two files to a formatted fat usb stick. Rename the file FLASHIT to FLASHIT.EXE and the second file 3309.fd(bios file) to ZG5IA32.FD rename them precisely like that, please check your spelling is correct. Insert the usb stick into the usb left hand side make sure the charger is plugged in . Hold down keys fn+esc and power up the laptop, when the power led begins to blink release the two buttons and press the power button just once, observe the usb stick flashing indicating it's flashing the bios, please note this can take a few attempts, I once struggled for a few hours until I finally tamed the beast :) be patient okay, I would like to point out if you wish to update within winxp use the same bios update 3309 , extract the zipped files to a formatted usb stick and rename the two files again but DO NOT REMOVE or interfere with the other files in the folder , with the laptop up and running open the folder and click on the Insysdeflash file only within the winflash file, this will flash your bios within windows and update it to the latest version, I read that flashing it when using the fn+esc keys merely restores the bios , I have tested this and mine updated to 3309 only when I flashed my bios within windows using the complete d/loaded bios update as mentioned . It will be worth reading the read me file to see what has changed in this bios version, I can tell you that for those out there that have password issues i.e. hdd set, the need to enter password with upper case is not a requirement more and there are a lot more fixes too, enjoy and I hope this bit of info was useful:)

My Aspire 9300 no work anything

Did you recently change or add memory? My 9300 will not recognize 4GB RAM after I upgraded the BIOS to version 1.2, so I use only 2GB and it works ok again.

Can't upgrade an Acer Aspire 3000 notebook to 2 gb

Thanks for choosing fixya.com

Your not alone in this type of problem. When it comes to computer (laptop especially) they usually have a "Max allowed ram" most times its listed in the back of the manual in small print. Its a way to keep people buying new computers (if your into the conspiracy theories)
Chances are even a bios upgrade would not fix your problem. Mostly BIOS upgrades add support for new boot options, plug and play support, and fixes to bugs in older versions.

You can check aspires/acers website for updates www.acer.com
If they have an update it will comes with documentation as to what the update does.

Hope this helps you out.

Updating BIOS

You need to upgrade your bios.
Heres the link the software.

ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/aspire_5630/bios/Bios%203.23.zip

You will need winzip or winrar to open the zip file just google either if you dont have them you can get them for free.

You then need to open the folder you just uncompressed and you will see another zip file, winflash is in there. it will allow you to flash the bios from within windows, just install it and follow the instructions on your screen

Dont forget to rate this solution

Acer aspire 9300 backdoor or bios password

Clear Password
PIN Pad: Bypassing Password Check, Keep shorting G3 (2 triangle pad) as above PIN pad and
then powering on the system will force the BIOS to clear Supervisor and User passwords. That
means both the power-on and setup passwords are all cleared.
