Question about Whirlpool Washing Machines
For a couple years we've (wife and I) been putting up with a sloooow fill on our Whirlpool Washer. Of course we use Cold water wash more often these days in order to save the planet and do our share to reduce global warming.
When filling there is a noticeable hummm and today wifey and I decided to open lid and look. (actually it was wife - she called me over to look)
She opened the lid and I gazed in with amazement.
''You can open these things while they're running!?''
She hit me.
I was looking into the machine struggling with the urge to hug her for displaying mastery of the machine.
Suddenly she began to change the water setting from Cold to Warm wash.
Each time it went to the Warm setting the water went from two seperated dribbles to a 7 inch wide ribbon. Reminiscient of a water feature you'd find in some fancy hotel lobby.
I couldn't help myself....
''Something's wrong!'' I blurting out.
She rolled her eyes mumbled something and walked off ..
I am guessing there is a solenoid activated inlet valve doing a poor job.
When the water stops and the cycles end I'm gonna rip it apart and look.
The present wash was started at 10:30. It is now 11:57 and the machine just completed filling.
She's (wife) setting up '911' on the speed dial in anticipation ......
It is a common problem. The water inlet valve (the item your fill hoses attach to) has a problem. first thing I would do is remove the hoses and check the screens inside the walve itself. If blocked, clean them. IF they are OKAY....WHile the hose if off place it in the washer tub and turn it on full blast. Does it flow with force? If so, you will need to replace the water inlet valve. While on cold....it trickles and turning it to warm, the machine sends power to both the hot and cold water solenoids and then you are forceful. Mostly hot and a trickle of cold.....Get the point? If I can help further...
