Question about Palm Tungsten E Handheld

Tungsten E problem

I have a Palm Tungsten E. Today I loaded the software onto my computer which is running Vista (previously I was running XP on my old computer). The Quick Install will not work so I cannot install any new applications. I have some games and other apps that I got online as free demos before deciding to purchase and I have no way of getting them onto the Tungsten E.

Older palm products and vista aren't compatible. You either needs to transfer info via bluetooth or upgrade your palm if you wish to continue using vista.

I have a new Tungsten E Handheld but no installation CD. Can I download something from my computer instead?

Though Palm PDAs are considered "legacy" by their new "supporters", HP, there is a download site for your Tungsten. Note that while HP seems to have forgotten that there was an "E", and only mention the E2, the
Palm Support Palm Tungsten E2 Palm Desktop 4 1 4 and HotSync Manager... download should work... providing you are using the right OS on your computer. XP is listed in your owners manual, Vista usually works, Win7 is really dicey unless you bought one of the reconditioned/customized Tungstens that have become available over the internet lately, and win 8 might really become a deal-breaker. Good luck!

I just bought a Tungsten E2 yesterday and can't get it to synch with my computer. My computer is running Vista

Hello there.

Palm has released updated software to work with your Tungsten device, using Windows Vista.

Download and run this file http://palmone.r3h.net/downloads.palm.com/PalmDesktopWin62.exe
This will update your installed software to the latest version, which works with Vista.

Hope this helps.

How do i transfer the data from the old palm to

The Palm Desktop (installed on your computer) should have all the information that is currently on it. Make sure that you sync before moving on.

On the tungsten, there will be a version of the palm desktop (updated) for it. Just install that version, it will find your old version, and import from there. PalmDesktop 6 supports Vista, unknown how well it will work as a 32bit app being emulated in 64bit environment.

Unable to hotsync with my computer

Also, if you have a new Tungsten E2 and there is no important data, I would hard reset it and then when you sync it, select the old profile of the previous Palm to see if that works.

The new Palm you have, is it a Tungsten E2 as well?

The profiles don't always carry over between different models.

Change hotsync

Changing back to Palm Desktop Software from Outlook with Tungsten E 1 Place the Installation CD that came along with your handheld onto your cd-rom. Wait for it to load after which you’ll see a splash screen with different menus. Note: If the cd does not automatically load, double click on my computer then click on the cd-rom drive icon and finally click on the first icon (looks like a cd) labeled ‘autorun’ 2. Select ‘Install Microsoft Outlook Conduits’ 3. Click on ‘Install’ 4. Click on ‘Yes’ 5. Click on ‘Yes” 6. Click on ‘Ok’ 7. Click on ‘Back’ 8. Click on ‘Exit’
