The problem is that I've tried the solution in that video. The latch itself will barely move in one direction, not at all in the other. Since the machine is currently in the shop with a damaged HDD ::sigh, more bills...:: it may be a moot point now.

    I appreciate the solution, however.

Testimonial: "It turned out that one of the latches was partly jammed, and it took considerable force to lever the battery out; no damage was done to either."

How to unlock the key pad on a dell latitude D600 laptop

Hi. Please do troubleshooting steps below:

1. Check to be sure your "Number Lock" or "Function Lock" keys aren't lit. These can lock out certain parts of your keyboard. If either of these is lit, press them to unlock the locked portion of your keyboard. These can be found at the top right on a laptop and between the number pad and main keys on a desktop keyboard.

2. Save all open programs using your mouse. Use your mouse to restart your computer. This will only work if your computer isn't frozen. If your mouse doesn't move, press the power button on your Dell until the computer turns off. Press it again to restart. If the issue was lack of memory or a locked program, this will unlock your keyboard. Continue to Step 3 if the keyboard is still locked.

3. Shut down your computer using your mouse or power button. Don't restart. Unplug your Dell.

4. Remove the battery if you're using a laptop by turning the laptop over and sliding the battery release latch. Slide the battery out and replace after one minute.

Have a good one!

Battery release latch locked in open -hp pavilion dv4 1313dx

The same thing happened to my HP laptop. The sliding lock mechanism relies on three little hooks to hold the battery in place. What had happened to mine was that one of the hooks (the one nearest to the switch) had gotten stuck (this is quite difficult to explain, but just examine the three little hooks closely and you'll notice it the difference.) I freed it simply by pushing it with my thumb to unsnag it. The battery is now securely back in place, where it will stay!

HP Pavilion dv6225us laptop battery release latch

is the latched stuck in the open or closed position? if it is in the open position you may be able to wedge a pick or small flathead and gently ease it out. if it is in the locked position attempt to use one of these same tools to move the latch to the open position. hope this was helpful.

How do you remove the battery?

There's usually a small latch on the underside of the laptop marked with a small battery icon. Push the latch to the side and the battery should pop out enough for you to grab a corner of it. Sometimes there are two latches, in that case they will be numbered for the proper order to trip the latches to remove the battery.

    Good luck!!

Keyboard on my Dell studio 15 is locked

Use your touchpad or mouse to save all open documents and close all programs. Shut down the computer. Be sure to click "Turn Off" instead of "Restart."

Unplug your Dell Inspiron 2600 and close the lid.
Carefully turn the laptop over. Remove the battery. The battery has a sliding latch and lock. Unlock the battery by sliding the lock to the unlock position. Slide the latch and remove the battery when the left edge pops up.

Wait one minute and replace the battery. Slide the lock back into the locked position.

Connect your adapter and restart your system.

How do you get to the battery in the compaq nc6000?

On the bottom there is a spring loaded latch that, when pressed, will allow you to slide the battery out. There may or not also be a locking tab as well (It will have a picture of a lock, opened and closed)

Remove the battery on my laptop-

There will be a battery latch to push while you yank out the battery. Sometimes , there is a battery lock, which is another switch near the battery latch. You may need to use a lot of force.

    CAN'T REMOVE THE BATTERY

You need to disconnect the laptop battery from the computer and also the ac adapter so there is no power.

Then you will need to unscrew the generally 2 screws on the memory cover to get to the ram. I will have to get a service manual for your unit and confirm how its done.
