Using a Cuisinart EasyPop Popcorn Maker without oil

Can I use this machine without any oil at all? Or will it burn? I have been frustrated with the crappiness of the little hot air poppers and this machine is so nice and elegant and quiet - but I am doing Weight Watchers and every teaspoon of oil counts!!

It needs a little oil to get it going, but its less than a teaspoon, so not much at all. it's probably not a good idea to use without oil.

Why can't you use olive oil with Cuisinart pop corn maker? That is the only oil I use.

We just bought a replacement Cuisinart popcorn maker after our 7 year old one died. Was surprised to see the note about not using olive oil in the manual since that's what we have always used. Apparently the concern is that olive smokes at a lower temp than other oils but it's always worked fine for us in the same model cuisinart. We like the richer flavor and health benefits -- we don't need to add butter when we use olive oil.

Cuisinart popcorn popper directions

If you are using the Cuisinart pop corn poppper, don't use olive oil. Use vegetable oil. Two teaspoons is enough with 1/3 cup of premium kernels. That is it. Turn on the machine and wait til it stops popping. I LOVE my new pop corn popper. I will not do the hot air one again. I always had kernels flying all over my kitchen and popped popcorn everywhere, The Cuisinart popper is the best....
