Question about Whirlpool Cabrio WTW6600SBT Top Load Washer

Whirlpool Cabrio Washer

My washer is a bit over 2 years old. Everything still seems to work but now when it spins it sounds like maybe the "bearing" are going bad. Sort of a rubbing noise. The more I load in the washer the more pronounced the sound is. Any ideas of what it may be? Thanks in advance.

My washer is about 2 years old. When it spins it makes a loud squealing noise.

My Cabrio washer is also just two years old. The repairman just left who said that the bearings had "gone out" and that you couldn't just replace the bearings, but the entire tub had to be replaced at a cost of $377.03. He called to see if there was a warranty on it. . . but alas no warranty on the bearings or tub.

I called H.H. Gregg . . . who were no help, but did give me Whirlpool's number. 1-800-253-1301 I told Ashley the problem and that the repairman had just left, etc. etc. etc. She offered to at least pay for the parts if I would pay for the labor. I guess that's better than nothin'.

Washer seems to have bad bearings. A low level grinding can be heard at slow spin speeds but increases with acceleration and faster spin speeds. This did not occur until washer was past 2 years old. It still works but is annoying.

It is the same problem with the noise when the washer is in the spin cycle. It sounds like a jet is landing in my laundry room. Also, it has started to leak from the bottom.

It is the bearing, call 1800-905-9505 and ask for a service smart agreement cost about 200 and it will cover your washer for 1 year parts and labor and the machine will get fixed

Whirlpool Cabrio WTW6600SBT Top Load Washer won't aggitate

My Whirlpool WTW6600 had the same problem. The tub no longer floated up and down on the center shaft, so it only spun, not agitated. You must remove the tub (with some effort) and lightly sand / clean the center shaft. Lube it lightly with wheel bearing grease so that after it is reassembled, you can pull the tub upward and feel about 1/2" movement. This will enable the proper gear assembly to engage. It can spin when it rests at the bottom of its travel, but once you fill the tub, it floats, moving upward, and engaging the agitation gear. Good Luck!

My 3 year old Cabrio washer is making a loud bead bearing sound when spinning, especially at high speed. I have a lot of mechanical experience, I need a diagram or better parts list then the factory...

I just replaced the outertub/driveshaft assembly on my cabrio washer a month ago. It is now whisper quiet on spin cycle again. Go to any parts list on the web and order the "Outer tub/driveshaft assembly". I got mine delivered to my front door for about $185 total. I got the directions on how to work on it from the web. It only took a couple of hours or so. If you need the part number or part store let me knw. Good Luck.

NOISE DURING SPIN CYCLE

You have to take the tub out, take off the rotor from the bottom of the washer, remove 4 bolts and take off the stator, take off the bearing retaining nut, then drive the 2 bearings out with a drift. I bought the bearings online for 20 bucks from a supplier (VBX). They are standard metric bearings number 6005 and 6006. I put some silicone grease on the shaft seal and drove the new bearings into place. Then reassembled, and the washer is whisper quiet.

Loud sounds coming from the washer on spin cycle

That is a characteristic of bearings gone bad. You should look into replacing the bearings.
