Question about Sharp AL 1631 Copier

Loud clicking noice during copying

Recently purchased copier. After a week the unit is now making a 'rat-a-tat-a-tat' noise while making copies. The copies/paper seems to come out fine without jamming. Is this something / known issue that we can fix?

Take the toner unit out check toner recovery bottle on the front of toner unit, empty or vacum it out dale, if not that could be gears on the machine drive, or fuser, or down in the by-pass dale

There seems to be a grinding noice coming from the bottom of the copier. It will feed paper from either source, the tray or the manual feed, and then the copy gets caught and shuts down the copier and you...

Diagnosing noises over the internet is an impossible task unless it is a known problem on a particular model. usually grind noises are casued by something trying to turn something that wont. It maybe something as simple as a siezed drum. As you have not stated what model of copier you have, i am sorry but i cannot proceed any further.

My printer wont print. I have recently upgraded to windows 7. have downloaded the new driver. but it wont print. i have tried a full reset, partial reset, taking out ink and restarting, putting ink back...

You need to check the hardware functionality of printer first. Make a copy from printer and check if it prints fine. If hardware is okay. You can try following steps on computer.

1- On computer keyboard press Windows(flag) button and R at the same time
2- This will open a small Run window
3- Type devmgmt.msc in Run window and click OK
4- This will open Device Manager window.
5- Right click on psc 2410(2400) entry under "universal serial bus controller" and 'imaging device' and click delete/uninstall/remove. Printer's entry should disappear from there.
6- Disconnect usb cable from printer and computer
7- Wait for 50 seconds.
8- Connect the usb cable to printer and computer.
9- This should install the drivers automatically.

Copier making loud noise

Remove the drum/toner unit and close the top,...does it still make the noise? If so, there is a paper jam in the fuser section (left side)
I also have a Canon PC900 series copier....mine does not have the automatic document feeder, however the machine is the same....If the noise persists, you will probably need to replace the Fixing (fuser) Unit drive gears (worst case senerio) perhaps you can locate the jam in the fuser and "carefully" remove without damaging the Fixing Belt....good luck

Cs-1510 makes loud high pitch noise when copying

loud noise is usually coming from the laser unit. if you can ger to it, lubricate it's polygon motor shaft with some oil. It usually works fine afterwards. It is a bit of a hassle to remove the laser unit.

Loud grinding noice before starting to print

Mine makes a grinding noise when scanning or making copies. As long as everything is working, I just tolerate the noise in which the rest of the staff find amusing at first and then ignore it as I do.

Loud clattering noise

-Open the Front Cover. -Remove the Toner Cartridge -Remove the Drum Cartridge -Next locate the black gear attached to the end of the Drum and turn it with your fingers. -Check to see if the gear is locked, or difficult to turn. The gear will only turn in one direction. -If the gear won't turn at all, or if it catches while you are turning it, or if you hear the same noise when you turn the gear that you heard when the machine was on, the Drum Cartridge is the cause and will need to be replaced.
