Sound stays on picture goes out

My tv is an sony vega kdfe55a20 this has been happening for about 5 weeks now. Out of 16 hours of running the TV, about 1 hour after turning it on the morning it goes out for about 30 seconds, when it comes back on, the picture comes on dimly and then brighter to full brightest of a normal picture. It does this 2 or 3 times at most and then 15 hours later it does this again. This problem is progressing in intervals throughout the day and duration length where now it is happening 15 times a day and for about 1 minute each time.

I want to make sure it is the tube before I purchase. How can I run diagnostics on this to be sure it is the tube and not a fan or other part that needs to be replaced? Also, if it is the bulb, can I purchase just the bulb or do I need to purchase the whole assembly?

    It is not possible to run diagnostics and troubleshoot the problem myself? I am an electrician and can check for voltage and ring things out.

    I need to find out the sony troubleshooting page that describes all the LED flashings for troubleshooting, being that my picture is getting darker all the time. So when my bulb does go out, the flashes will tell me something, hopefully.

It would probably be easier to have someone come out and take a look at it before you go buying parts you may not need to be spending money on. it may be a simple fix for a repairman and not so simple for you...

    you can check all the boards etc but it will be hard to narrow down the problem with so many circuits to check, you might call a repair shop and see if they might not tell you where to begin in any case,, sometimes they will tell you other times they wont

    im not saying you cant do diagnostics on the set.what im trying to say is to kepp you from going nuts or possibly shorting something else out to call someone that might be able to tell you the best place to begin with your specific peoblem

It is symptom of weak lamp that has been reached to end of its working hours life and need to be replaced to solve this problem.
Replace lamp in your tv, procedure is easy and would be written in your tv user manual.
Buy Sony original lamp for good picture in tv.

Sony grand vega 55" will blink green for three times than red blinking under the power light. nothing comes on no sound, no picture and no fan's are running. Tried to change the bulb, power board...

Your problem is your thermal fuse.It is located around the bottom of the compartment that houses the lamp. You will have to remove the lamp and take the bottom back panel off. Then you will have to remove the fan. I ordered the thermal fuse so I would know what I was looking for when I started to replace it. If you take your time and are patient enough you can fix it yourself. I fixed mine and it's working great.GOOD LUCK!!!

Yes, its most probably lamp issue.
Please but original Sony lamp from Sony store and replace it in TV.

Standby Blinks 5 times. Picture goes off but sound stays on. Only hookup is Digital Cable - help!

Plug the electricity to a surge protector. I fixed my that way. Try it and let us know.
