Question about Lite On LVW-5115GHC+ DVD Recorder
On my recorder the door hang's up and i have to tap the top of the recorder to get the door to open could this keep the recorder from not going through the preparation stage it gets to 21 percent and then the door opens.I took the top off of the recorder and spray some can air in there to clean but did not help.
I had the same problem.
This is what worked like a charm for me:
Take off the top cover and locate the drive.
On top of the drive will be a metal plate with a plastic circle in the middle.
This holds the disk in place when spinning.
Locate 2 little black screws which holds the plate on.
Loosen the screws slightly until the the tray opens.
If it is too tight the tray gets stuck.
I put two tiny pieces of double sided tape, about 1/16 of an inch, as spacers next to the screw holes so the plate stays tight.
It may not be necessary but I did it anyway.
Good luck and I hope it works for you too.

I've got a LiteOn LVW-5115GHC+ and had the same problem with the draw sticking shut.
As mr_pez2000 says the problem is with the top carrier preventing the lazer mechanism from dropping to allow the draw to open. This could be due to the fact the top carrier (the metal bit attached by 2 black screws with a white plastic disc in the centre) could be bent down by the weight of other AV equipment pressing down on the lid which has some foam pads fitted on the top carrier causing it to deform over time.
The solution is to push up slightly the top carrier back to its correct position or put packing such as tape under the metal plate screw holes - it should spin when a disk is loaded. Make sure you don't put weight ontop or the unit after fixing or remove the foam pads.
I hope this helps you.

I had the same problem, I had to open up the covers (including the one covering the lens) and clean the lens with a soft cloth. Please be very careful while cleaning the lens since it is very delicate and any damage would permanently disable read/writes.
